IN ADDITION, EJ CARREON WAS IN PERSON DURING THE LAUNCH AND EXPLAINED TO STUDENTS HOW THE PROGRAM WOULD BENEFIT ALL OF THEM IN THEIR QUEST FOR SUCCESS. DECISIONALLY, TALK TIME HAS LANCASTER ISD HAS BEEN A HUGE HIT. IT THE TALK TIME EVENTS FEATURE PROFESSIONALS WITHIN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE FIELD FROM THROAT DALLAS COUNTY.

THIS [INDISCERNIBLE] WHILE EMPOWERING STUDENTS TO DEVELOP BETTER DECISION MAKING SKILLS AND WORK FORWARD HAVING POSITIVE DAILY INTERACTIONS WITH ADULTS AND PEERS.

THE STUDENTS CAN QUESTIONS AND UNDERSTAND HOW THE CHOICES THEY MAKE NOW WILL SHAPE THEIR FUTURE. AND LAST THURSDAY WE HAD A GRADE EVENT AT LANCASTER MIDDLE SCHOOL. WE HOSTED THE HACK-A-THON FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, MORE THANKING AND MATH AND ARTS STUDENTS. STUDENTS COMPETED IN THE CODING CHALLENGE OF THE EVENT BY CREATING AND DEVELOPING CODING PROJECTS.

THE DEVELOPMENT WILL HELP STUDENTS WORK ON A PROJECT THAT SHOWS WEBO PRIDE.

WE WANT TO CONGRATULATE THE FOLLOWING TEAMS FOR TAKING HOME THE BRAGGING RIGHTS.

JANUARY 2022 WILL BE SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH AND LANCASTER ISD IS HONORED AND EXCITED TO SELL BRACE OUR TRUSTEES. THIS EVENING WE HAVE OUR CITY OF LANCASTER MAYOR CLYDE HARRISON WITH US TODAY TO PROCLIMB THE MONTH OF JANUARY AS SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH. MAYOR? [APPLAUSE]

>> WHAT A PLEASURE IT IS TO STAND BEFORE YOU TONIGHT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS, SUPERINTENDENT, AND STUFF. FIRST I WANT TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY HOLIDAY. MAY IT BE A PROSPEROUS ONE FOR YOU.

WITH THAT SAID, I WOULD LIKE TO READ THE PROCLAMATION. WHEREAS THE MISSION OF PUBLIC SCHOOL IS TO MEET THE DIVERSE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF ALL CHILDREN AND TO EMPOWER THEM TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE CONTRIBUTORS TO A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY IN AN EVERCHANGING WORLD AND WHEREAS LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ARE COMMITTED TO CHILDREN AND BELIEVE THAT ALL CHILDREN CAN BE SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS AND THAT THE BEST EDUCATION IS TAILORED TO THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF THAT CHILD; AND WHEREAS LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS WORK CLOSELY WITH PARENTS, EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONALS AND OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO CREATE THE EDUCATIONAL VISION WE WANT FOR OUR STUDENTS AND WHEREAS LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THE SUPPORT THAT PROVIDES A SOL LIT FOUNDATION FOR OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM.

THIS PREVIOUS SCHOOL YEAR SHE'S UPPED THAT BY $10,000 TO $26,000 IN SCHOLARSHIP DOLLARS GENERATED TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOLARS WITH POST SECONDARY COLLEGIATE GOALS. FOR THOSE REASONS TONIGHT WE WANT TO THANK HER FOR ALL OF HER HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO LANCASTER ISD AND SURPRISE, YOU'RE NOVEMBER'S EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH. [APPLAUSE]

I WANTED TO PROVIDE THE BOARD WITH AN UPDATE ON THIS BOARD MEETING AS I SHARED BACK IN THE SUMMER THAT I WOULD GIVE YOU AN UPDATE BEFORE DECEMBER IN BREAK AND SO AS I CONTINUE MY LISTENING AND LEARNING TOUR THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, I HAVE MET SEVERAL DIFFERENT STAKE HOLDERS, INCLUDING SEVERAL LISD STUDENTS,AKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING LISD STUDENTS, REALTOR GROUPS.

THE LIMA ASSOCIATION AND MANY, MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS AS WELL. DURING SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER, I PARTICIPATED IN EACH OF OUR CITY'S COIN SILL MEMBERS' TOWN HALL MEETINGS WHERE I WAS ABLE TO INTRODUCE MYSELF TO KEY COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND PROVIDE INFORMATION INTO MY TRANSITION INTO LANCASTER, LOCAL CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REAL ESTATE BROKERS TO PROMOTE OUR DISTRICT AND SHOWCASE THE TEACHING AND LEARNING THAT HAPPENS WITHIN OUR SCHOOLS.

THESE MEETINGS HAVE ALSO ALLOWED ME TO EXTEND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THESE ORGANIZATIONS TO PARTNER WITH AND SUPPORT OUR DISSTRICTS AND MEETING WITH STUDENTS AT BAMO TO GETTRICTS AND MEETING WITH STUDENTS AT BAMO TO GET FEEDBACK ON WHAT IS NEEDED MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING COURSES THAT THEY WISH THEY WOULD HAVE HAD DURING THEIR K-12 JOURNEY.

THESE STUDENTS HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR FEELINGS THROUGHOUT CAMPUS, GIVING US VALUABLE FEEDBACK. WE HAVE HAD OPEN DIALOGUE ABOUT THEIR DESIRES TO ENHANCE THEIR SCHOOL CULTURE AND BUILD SCHOOL PRIDE WHILE THE STUDENTS, WE JUST FINISHED OUR FIRST PHASE WITH THEM BY WE HAVE BEEN IN SEVERAL SESSIONS WHEN WE RETURN FROM BREAK WITH THEIR NEW ADMINISTRATOR TEAM. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THEIR PRESENTATIONS AND CONTINUING THESE MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND KIDS BUT WHAT BETTER VOICE TO HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU TALKING ABOUT WHAT THEIR NEEDS ARE, SO SOME KEEP TAKEAWAYS FROM ME WAS AN OVERWHELMING APPRECIATION FROM OUR STUDENTS THAT INCLUDED THE DISCUSSION OF BEING ABLE TO ARE A VOICE. OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO WERE EXCITED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT AND HOW THEY CAN BECOME ADVOCATES AS WELL, ORGANIZATIONS EAGER TO FIND THEIR WAY TO INVOLVEMENT AND HOW THEY CAN BECOME INVOLVED WITH OUR DISTRICT. OUR QUIZ BOWL WON SECOND PLACE IN OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE BOWL AND THEY'RE CONTINUING TO PREPARE FOR THE AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY BOWL COMING UP HERE IN FEBRUARY. COCURRICULAR PROGRAMS, THESE ARE PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO ACADEMICALLY ON CAMPUS SO WE'RE CONTINUING WITH OUR MOVE THIS WORLD AND PAIRED WITH THAT, WE HAVE OUR SEL ADVOCATES.

THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT WE HAVE DONE AT OUR SCHOOL FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AND SO WHAT WE DO IS WE HAVE OUR ELECTIVE TEACHERS TO ADOPT A GRADE LEVEL. WE IDENTIFIED OUR TIER THREE STUDENTS AND THOSE TEACHERS ADVOCATE FOR THOSE STUDENTS. WE HAVE A GUIDANCE PROGRAM THAT IS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE THAT OUR COUNSELLOR IS PROVIDING GUIDANCE LESSONS EVERY SINGLE WEEK, SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE PASSION THAT SHE'S BRINGING TO OUR STUDENTS.

WE ARE THE ONLY SCHOOL SERVES PREK-3 IN OUR DISTRICT SO THAT MAKES US DIFFERENT.

AT FIRST I THOUGHT WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME WITH THESE 3-YEAR-OLDS? BUT I LOVE THEM AND I THINK THEY TRULY ENJOY COMING TO SCHOOL. WE HAVE A VETERANS STAFF WITH AN AVERAGE YEARS OF SERVICE AT 12 YEARS. WE OFFER SEVERAL CURRICULAR PROGRAMS THAT I MENTIONED EARLIER AND I THINK OUR PARENTS REALLY ENJOYED THE COMMUNICATION, I ALWAYS SAY IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AT BELT LINE, IT'S BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW. AND SO E 452 SO WE HAVE 34 SPED STUDENTS ON OUR CAMPUS AND WE DO HAVE TWO UNITS, OUR LIFE SKILL UNITS USED TO BE CALLED PPCD SO THAT NUMBER IS REFLECTED THERE AS WELL. AND THEN WE ONLY HAVE THREE EL L STUDENTS AS WELL, SO CONTINUING TO WORK. JUST TO TALK ABOUT ENROLLMENT, IN 2019, WE HAD A GROWTH OF ABOUT 150 STUDENTS THAT YEAR. IT HAD TO DO WITH THE PRE-K 3 PROGRAM. THEY WANTED TO STAY AT OUR CAMPUS BUT REALLY WE JUST DON'T HAVE THE SPATES TO CONTINUE TO KEEP. I WENT FROM TWO PRE-K 4 TO FIVE PRE-K 4 CLASSROOMS. WE STOPPED ALLOWING STUDENTS TO STAY AND REQUEST THOSE HARDSHIPS SO THEY HAVE TO BE DISPURSED TO THEIR HOME SCHOOLS. BUT OURRSED TO THEIR HOME SCHOOLS. BUT OURSED TO THEIR HOME SCHOOLS.

LOOKING AHEAD, OUR GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE READING AND WRITING ON GRADE LEVEL BY THIRD GRADE. WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THAT.

WE NEED 97% OF OUR STUDENTS IN ATTENDANCE. WE WORK EXTREMELY HARD ON ATTENDANCE. THIS IS A 2021 DATA, PLEASANT RUN ELEMENTARY WAS A B SCHOOL IN 2019. 2021, THAT DATA DID DROP AND WE ALSO KEEP LOOKING AT OUR DATA BECAUSE DURING THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR WE DID NOT TEST 50% OF OUR KIDS. OUR BENCHMARK IS MORE ACCURATE DATA BECAUSE THAT'S 100% OF OUR STUDENTS TESTED SO THAT'S THE D DATA WE'RE LOOKING AT.

THIS DATA HERE IS NOT COMPLETELY ACCURATE IN TERMS OF WHERE THE KIDS ARE AND HOW MANY GAPS WE HAVE. WE'RE LOOKING AT THAT BENCH DATE MORE CLOA MORE CLOSELY THAN OUR STAR DATA. OUR ENROLLMENT HAS STEADILY INCREASED AND YOU CAN LOOK AT OUR AT-RISK STUDENTS. I DID SEE DEFICIENCIES BETWEEN PLEASANT RUN AND OTHER ELEMENTARIES AND THE GOAL IS TO BRING PLEASANT RUN UP TO THE LEVEL OF OTHER ELEMENTARIES IN LANCASTER ISD. ONE THING, GETTING US A FACEBOOK PAGE, GETTING A NEWSLETTER TO OUR PARENTS TO HIGHLIGHT WHAT'S GOING ON ON OUR CAMPUS, INCREASING THE COMMUNICATION, I'M A MAJOR BELIEVER IN EQUALITY. WE SHOULD BE OFFERING EVERY KID THE SAME EDUCATION, THE SAME OPPORTUNITY. EVERY PARENT.

WE TALKED ABOUT SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION, MEETING DIFFERENT LEVELS OF LEARNING AND PUTTING THOSE THINGS IN PLACE IN THE SPRING TO INCREASE OUR TEACHER CAPACITY WHICH WILL INCREASE LEARNING FOR ALL OUR STUDENTS. SUPPORTING OUR SPECIAL NEEDS POPULATION AT PLEASANT RUN WE HAVE TWO BEHAVIOR UNITS. WE DO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEIR NEEDS ARE BEING MET AND IMPROVING OUR BUILDING, CULTURE, AND CLIMATE.

THAT TIES IN HOW WILL YOU INSURE YOUR CAPITAL WILL RAISE AND I HEAR SOMETHING AND I CHALLENGE MY STAFF, PRE, THE PLACE TO BE. IS IT THE PLACE TO BE FOR ALL? A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK MONEY BRINGS TEACHERS. IF YOUR ENVIRONMENT IS HORRIBLE, THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN NEXT YEAR. WE ARE FULLY STAFFED THIS YEAR, THAT'S ONE OF OUR POINTS OF PRIDE THAT I LOOKED OVER BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY.

WE'RE A FULLY STAFFED SCHOOL, WE HAVE ALL CERTIFIED TEACHERS AT PLEASANT RUN ELEMENTARY.

WE'RE RECOMMENDING A CHANGE FROM OUR CURRENT SYSTEM BECAUSE THE DISTRICT CURRENTLY UTILIZES THREE DIFFERENT VENDORS WITH MULTIPLE SYSTEMS THAT COST US $70,250 ANNUALLY WHERE THE NEW SYSTEM THAT WE'LL BE PROPOSING, TRAVERSA, OFFERS ALL THE COMPONENTS IN ONE PROGRAM FOR $66,000 ANNUALLY. THE BENEFITS TO THE PARENTS WOULD BE REALTIME WEB APP TRACKING OF THE STUDENT RIDERSHIP. THERE'S AN APP THAT COMES WITH THE SYSTEM. IT HAS A RIDE 360 FEATURE THAT OFFERS ROUTINE INFORMATION FROM A SECURE PRESENT L-- PARENTAL PORTAL WHICH MEANS A PARENT CAN ONLY GET INFORMATION ON THEIR STU STUDENTS. THE TRACKING HAS AN ABILITY TO TELL US INSTANTANEOUSLY ALL THE PEOPLE THE STUDENT HAS BEEN IN TOUCH WITH, IN CONTACT WITH.

IT ALSO HAS A TRACKING SYSTEM THAT ACTIVELY CAPTURES THE STUDENT BOARDING AND UNLOADING PROCESS AND THERE'S A TUTORIAL AVAILABLE FOR PARENTS TO LEARN HOW TO USE THE APP TO KEEP TRACK OF THEIR STUDENTS. THE COST OF THE SYSTEM IS $215,000, WHICH INCLUDES ALL THE INSTALLATION COSTS FOR EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE FOR THE BUSES PLUS THE FIRST YEAR OF SERVICE.

THE FIRST YEAR OF SERVICE IS $66,000, SO WHEN YOU TAKE THAT AWAY FROM THE $215,000, THE NEW SYSTEM IS ACTUALLY COSTING US $149,000. INSTALLATION WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS SO WE WILL BEGIN, SHOULD YOU APPROVE THIS RECOMMENDATION, WE WOULD BEGIN THE PROJECT WHEN SCHOOL IS OUT FOR THIS YEAR AND WE'LL TRAIN THE STAFF AND BE READY TO HAVE ALL OF THIS COMPLETED BY AUGUST 1ST OF NEXT YEAR. THIS NEW SYSTEM WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE CURRENT BADGES THAT WE USE AND THEREFORE WHEN THE STUDENTS GET ON BUSES, WE'LL AUTOMATICALLY BE ABLE TO BADGE THEM IN AND TO TRACK THEM CORRECTLY.

IT'S THINGS LIKE THAT AND ALSO THE IDEA OF NOT BEING ABLE TO BADGE PEOPLE ON AND TO HAVE THAT LIST, WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH A PAPER TRAIL SYSTEM IN ORDER TO PROVIDE NAMES TO UNDERSTAND WHAT PARENTS NEED TO COMMUNICATE, SO IT WAS JUST SOME MISSTEPS IN NOT KNOWING WHEN WE FIRST WENT INTO THE TRANSPORTATION BUSINESS IN 2018, BUT THINGS WE'VE LEARNED ACROSS THE YEARS THAT LEAD US TO
