[00:00:01]
EVENING, EVERYONE.[3. Call Meeting to Order]
THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING US THIS EVENING, WE'RE GOING TO CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER FOR THE MEETING, THE PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE LINK DIOCESE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.THE MEETING HAS BEEN HELD AT THE LANCASTER ADMINISTRATION BUILDING BOARD AUDITORIUM IS 4 22 SOUTH CENTER AVENUE.
THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT.
I WILL NOW CALL ROLE TO ESTABLISH A QUORUM MS. STEVENSON, DEAR MR. SMITH.
MS. DAVIS HERE MYSELF PRESENT TONIGHT.
ABSENT IS MS. MAYES AT THIS TIME? DESPER DID WE HAVE ANY CITIZENS COMMUNICATION? NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE, MADAM PRESIDENT.
HEY, IS THERE A NEED FOR CLOSED SESSION? NOT FOR THIS.
[8.A. Public hearing to discuss Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR). Patonia Bell, Presenter]
WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND OPEN UP THE PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS TEXTS, ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT, THE TAPER DOCK FOR YES.UM, I CALL TO THE PODIUM, UM, MS. BELL, WHO WILL GIVE US AN OVERVIEW OF OUR TAPE OF REPORT.
AND I THINK SHE HAS A, UH, OPPORTUNITY FOR THE AUDIENCE TO JOIN IN VIA QR CODE, WHICH IS ON HER TITLE PAGE AS WELL AS I BELIEVE SHE HAD A FEW HANDOUTS AS WELL.
MADAM BOARD PRESIDENT ARE DISTINCT GOOD AFTERNOON MEDICAL PRESIDENT, DR PERRERA AND OUR DISTINGUISHED BOARD MEMBERS TONIGHT.
I WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT OUR TAPE, A REPORT THAT TEXTS HIS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT, UH, FROM ACADEMIC YEAR 2021.
BEFORE I GET STARTED, I WOULD LIKE TO JUST READ OUR VISION AND OUR MISSION STATEMENT.
EVERY GRADUATE IS, IS A SUCCESS IN LANCASTER ISD AND ALSO OUR MISSION STATEMENT, EMPOWERING ALL STUDENTS, HIS PURPOSE AND PASSION THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION IN FRONT OF YOU.
UH, I'LL RE I'LL READ A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEXAS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT.
AND SO TONIGHT, UH, WHEN I FINISHED PRESENTING, I WILL ALSO OFFER, UH, A QR CODE ON HOW YOU CAN GET TO THE THREE PUBLISHED FORMATS.
SO THIS INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE DISTRICT WEBSITE, AS WELL AS TEXAS SCHOOLS.GOV AND TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.
TONIGHT, I WILL ALSO COVER INFORMATION REGARDING OUR DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION, ACCOUNTABILITY RATING, SOME SPECIAL EDUCATION DETERMINATION STATUS.
AND I WANT TO MENTION THAT THE TAPER REPORT ALSO INCLUDES STAR PERFORMANCE AND PARTICIPATION, ATTENDANCE, GRADUATION, DROPOUTS DROPOUT RATES, COLLEGE AND CAREER MILITARY READINESS INDICATORS, POST-SECONDARY INDICATORS, STUDENT, AND STAFF INFORMATION AND OTHER PROGRAMMING INFORMATION.
I WILL BE READING THIS LAB VERBATIM, UH, REGARDING THE TEXAS, UH, ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT, OUR TAPER, UM, THIS PARTICULAR REPORT ACTUALLY PULLS TOGETHER WIDE RANGE OF INFORMATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN EACH SCHOOL AND DISTRICT.
AND IN TEXAS EVERY YEAR, PERFORMANCE IS SHOWN DESEGREGATED BY STUDENT GROUPS, INCLUDING ETHNICITY OF SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS.
THE REPORTS ALSO PROVIDE EXTENSIVE INFORMATION ON SCHOOL AND DISTRICT STAFF PROGRAMS AND STUDENT DEMOGRAPHICS INFORMATION IN FRONT OF YOU IS OUR CURRENT, UH, IS ACTUAL ACTUALLY REFLECTIVE OF OUR DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION AS OF SEPTEMBER, 2021.
AND I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THIS INFORMATION COINCIDES WITH OUR TABLE REPORTING AS FAR AS THE DEMOGRAPHICS AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME.
AND SO AS OF 2021, WHEN WE WERE SERVING 7,102 STUDENTS AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME IN 86, 80 6% OF THOSE STUDENTS WERE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED.
OUR AFRICAN-AMERICAN PERCENTAGE IS 73.6 HISPANIC 22.22 A MORE 2% WHITE, 1% AMERICAN INDIAN 0.5% ASIAN 0.2% PACIFIC ISLANDER 0.1% WITH THE 20 20, 20, 21 TAPE OR SUMMARY.
I WANT TO JUST READ THIS DISCLAIMER THAT FOR THIS 20 20, 20 21 DIS UH, DISTRICT ACCOUNTABILITY TEA HAS STATED THAT ALL DISTRICTS AND CAMPUSES ARE LABELED, NOT RATED DECLARE A STATE OF DISASTER FOR 2021.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT TA WILL ISSUE THE SAME RATING FROM THE 20 18 20 19 SCHOOL YEAR OF A B UH, 8 81 RATING FOR LANCASTER ISD.
UH, ALSO WE RECEIVED, WE RECEIVED 37 CAMPUS DISTINCTIONS AND ONE COVETED DISTRICT POST-SECONDARY READINESS DISTINCTION IN FRONT OF YOU.
YOU'LL SEE, UM, THE ACCOUNTABILITY SUMMARY.
AND SO ESSENTIALLY WHAT TA COULD AGGREGATE BASED ON THE DATA PIECES THAT WERE PULLED IN THAT ARE SOLELY BEING UTILIZED FOR PLANNING PURPOSES.
I JUST WANT US TO HAVE A, I HAVE A CROSSWALK FOR YOU TO CA TO COMPARE, UM, THE MAJOR CATEGORIES OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, STUDENT PROGRESS AND CLOSING THE GAPS AND LOOKING ALSO AT OUR PARTICIPATION RATES.
SO IN LOOKING AT STAR PERFORMANCE, WE WENT FROM A 47 TO 30.
[00:05:01]
OUR COLLEGE AND CAREER MILITARY RATING IS WE WENT FROM 41 TO 78 GRADUATION RATE.WE WENT FROM 98.8 TO 100% WITH SCHOOL PROGRESS.
THAT WAS NOT, UH, GROWTH, UH, INFORMATION, INFORMATION AVAILABLE, UH, AS YOU KNOW, BECAUSE OF THE YEAR BEFORE WE ALSO MISSED OUT A PIECES THERE.
SO THE STATE WAS NOT ABLE TO AGGREGATE THAT, BUT IN 20 18, 20 19, WE HAD 71%.
AND, UM, OUR RELATIVE PERFORMANCE WENT FROM 44 TO 54%.
A COUPLE OF THINGS I WANT TO POINT OUT, UM, BEFORE WE LOOK AT KOHL'S AND THE GAPS IS ONE, I WANT TO POINT OUT OUR COLLEGE AND CAREER MILITARY READINESS.
UH, WE MADE GRAN, UH, WE INCREASED THEIR TREMENDOUSLY, UH, BY 37%.
AND THEN I ALSO WANT TO JUST POINT OUT TOO, THAT OUR RELATIVE PERFORMANCE INCREASES WELL, FINALLY LOOKING AT OUR CLOSE AND THE GAPS.
UH, YOU'LL SEE THAT WITH OUR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT STATUS, WE WENT FROM 55% TO 5% WITH OUR GRADUATION STATUS.
IT REMAINED THE SAME WITH OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY.
WE WENT FROM ZERO TO 100% AND WHAT OUR SCHOOL SCHOOL QUALITY STATUS, WE WENT FROM 71% TO 100%.
I WANT TO POINT OUT HERE, UM, THAT IN 1819, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH GETTING OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE, PROFICIENCY POINTS, UH, ACCOUNTABILITY POINTS, BUT IN 20 20, 21, WE WERE ABLE TO NAB THAT.
AND SO THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE'RE ACTUALLY REALLY QUITE PROUD OF AS WELL.
AND THEN THE FINAL THING I WANT TO RE, UH, STATE ON REGARDING THIS INFORMATION IN FRONT OF YOU IS THAT 82% OF OUR STUDENTS WERE IN THE BUILDING, UH, TESTING WITH US.
AND SO WE DO LOOK AT THIS AS VIABLE INFORMATION, BUT AGAIN, IT'S FOR PLANNING PURPOSES.
SO THE NEXT CHART IS ACTUALLY A LOTS OF INFORMATION, AND I WANTED TO JUST PRESENT THIS IN CHART FORM TO YOU TONIGHT.
SO YOU CAN SEE THE TRENDS OF ALL OF OUR CONTENT AREAS, AS WELL AS ALL SUBJECTS AND APPROACHES MEETS AND MASTERS.
AND SO, UH, AGAIN, UM, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE.
I WANT YOU TO JUST BE ABLE TO SEE, UM, THE CHANGE OVER THE TWO YEARS FROM, UH, FROM OUR, UH, 20, 20, 19 TO OUR 2021 DATA.
AND I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT OVER THE YEARS, WE, IN THE PAST, WE'VE BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL AT TYPICALLY IN MATH AND SCIENCE.
AND SO WE SAW WITH THE COVID THAT IT WAS THE OPPOSITE.
SO WITH THE COVID, IT REALLY IMPACTED OUR MATH AND OUR SIZE AREAS.
WE DO THINK THAT THIS WAS REALLY A HUGELY IN PART BECAUSE THE KIDS WERE NOT IN SCHOOL.
SO THEY DIDN'T DID NOT HAVE THE HANDS-ON KINESTHETIC OPPORTUNITIES THAT THEY NORMALLY WOULD HAVE IF THEY WERE IN A BUILDING.
SO AGAIN, THIS IS DATA THAT WE'RE UTILIZING TO, UH, TO LOOK AT THE TRENDS AND LOOK AT THE AREAS OF MEDIA, AND IT'S NOT READY TO DECLARE THE STATE OF DISASTER AND JUST YOU'RE UTILIZING THIS INFORMATION FOR PLANNING PURPOSES.
SO I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT OUR, UM, 2019 OVERALL RATING AS A PART OF OUR TAPE REPORT.
UM, THIS IS ACTUALLY A LIST OF ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES AND ALL OF THE RATINGS.
AND I WANT TO POINT OUT A COUPLE OF THINGS.
I WON'T READ OFF ALL OF THE OVERALL RATINGS TO YOU, BUT I WANT TO POINT OUT TWO CAMPUSES.
AND I THINK, AND I KNOW THIS IS HUGELY IN PART BECAUSE THIS IS A CAMPUS WITH A SINGLETON YEAR, ONLY ONE GRADE LEVEL ON THAT CAMPUS.
AND MOST OF THE DISTRICTS IN TEXAS HAVE EITHER SIX, SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS OR SEVENTH AND EIGHT GRADE.
AND SO WHEN IT COMES TO ACCOUNTABILITY, YOU CAN RAKE UP MORE POINTS ACROSS SUBJECT AREAS AND ACROSS CONTENT AREAS.
BUT BECAUSE THAT'S NOT THE CASE FOR GWC BEING OUT SINGLE GRADE OF SIXTH GRADE, THERE'S NOT ALL OF THOSE OPPORTUNITIES.
AND SO, UM, THEY'VE RECEIVED THE 78 AND THEY'RE WORKING VERY HARD.
AND ALSO WITH WEST MAIN, I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT SINCE TWO AND 13, THIS CAMPUS HAS WORKED EXTREMELY HARD WITH CLOSING THE GAPS EFFORTS, UH, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO DO THAT.
AND SO THAT WAS ONE OF THE, UH, QUALIFICATIONS QUALIFYING FACTORS FOR THEM GETTING THE BLUE RIBBON, UH, IN 2020.
AND, UM, THEY WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE THAT.
AND SO WE'RE QUITE EXCITED ABOUT THE SUCCESS THAT, UH, WEST MAIN HAS ACCOMPLISHED FOR OUR DISTRICT.
AND WE'RE LOOKING TO THEM TO LEARN LOTS OF, UM, BEST PRACTICES TO, UH, TO, TO CASCADE OVER OUR OTHER CAMPUSES.
THE NEXT CHART IS ACTUALLY JUST A CHART IS SHOWING YOU THE INFORMATION THAT, UH, GOES INTO ACCOUNT WHEN IT COMES TO THE POST-SECONDARY DISTINCTION THAT THE DISTRICTS, UH, RECEIVED.
AND SO THERE ARE 24 POSSIBLE INDICATORS AND OF THOSE WE RECEIVED 14, AND I JUST WANTED YOU ALL TO HAVE THAT INFORMATION.
SO YOU COULD SEE THE 14 AREAS THAT, WHERE WE DID REALLY WELL.
AND ON THAT SAME NOTE, UM, THESE ARE OUR CAMPUS DISTINCTIONS.
AND SO WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIS, UH, JUST TO KIND OF CONTINUE THE SAME CONVERSATION,
[00:10:01]
UH, WE DID RECEIVE THOSE 37 DISTINCTIONS.AND AS YOU CAN SEE, A MAJORITY OF OUR CAMPUSES DID, UH, RE UH, RECEIVE A POST-SECONDARY DISTINCTION, UM, AS WELL AS MAJORITY OF OUR CAMPUSES RECEIVE A READING ELA DISTINCTION AS WELL, AND THEN MATH FOLLOWING IT RIGHT THERE AS WELL WITH OUR COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS, UH, WHAT OUR CCR FROM 2018 TO 2019, THE DISTRICT MOVED 33 POINTS IN OUR SCORE TO STATE BY TWO POINTS.
AND ADDITIONALLY, WITH OUR 2020 GRADUATING COHORT, 94% OF OUR SENIORS ARE ACQUIRED, ACQUIRED A CCM, OUR INDICATOR, AND WE'RE STILL CONTINUED TO WORK HARD AND TRAINING IN THAT DIRECTION.
SO I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT THAT WE HAD A 33 POINT INCREASE.
AND SO GOING FROM 41 TO 74%, WE DID REALLY WELL THERE.
UH, WE TRULY BELIEVE IN THE WHOLE MANTRA OF ENSURING THAT OUR STUDENTS GRADUATE WERE MORE THAN THE DIPLOMA.
AND I ALSO WANT TO JUST MENTION THAT WE'RE CONTINUING IN THAT SAME VEIN THIS YEAR.
WE ALREADY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 460, UH, INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATIONS.
SO WE'RE CONTINUING TO CONTINUING TO SEE LOTS OF SUCCESS IN THAT AREA.
SO WHAT I CTE PROGRAMS OF STUDY, UH, WANNA POINT OUT IN 20 18, 20 19, THAT IS OUR LIST OF PROGRAMS AND STUDIES AT THAT TIME.
AND SINCE THAT TIME AT 20 21, 20 22, UH, UNDER DR.
PEREIRA'S PURVIEW, WE'VE ACTUALLY EITHER ENHANCED, UH, SEVERAL OF OUR CTE PROGRAMS OF STUDY, OR WE HAVE, UM, ADDED SOME NEW ONES.
AND SO I WON'T GO INTO A LONG STORY ON THIS, BUT I JUST REMEMBER WHEN DR.
SHE SAYS, SHE W SHE SAYS, I WANT DRAWN TECHNOLOGY.
AND SO I WANT TO JUST POINT THAT ONE OUT THAT DRONE TECHNOLOGY IS SOMETHING THAT, UH, WAS AT THE BEGINNING FOR US, AND WE'RE REALLY GROWING IN THAT AREA.
AND ALSO ANOTHER THING THAT WAS NEAR AND DEAR TO HER HEART WAS TO GROW HER WITH STUDENTS IN EDUCATION.
SO WE HAD A HANDFUL OF STUDENTS IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING, AND NOW WE HAVE NEARLY A HUNDRED KIDS AND STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN THAT PROGRAM, EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
SO WE'RE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THAT, BUT I WILL MENTION THAT ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AND ROBOTICS ROBOTICS, WE'VE ENHANCED THAT PROGRAMMING, UH, BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, WE'VE ENHANCED THAT PROGRAMMING THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH TOYOTA AND ALSO OUR CYBER SECURITY.
AND, UH, WE'VE ALSO ADDED, WE'RE WORKING ON ADDING THE ELECTRICAL PROGRAM AND THEIR PROGRAM SOFTWARE AND DEVELOPMENT THAT IS NOT A NEW PROGRAM FOR US, BUT WE'RE DEFINITELY GIVING IT A BIG, HUGE OVERHAUL.
SO WE'RE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT OUR IT PROGRAMMING AS WELL, GRADUATION RATES.
SO, UH, AND LANCASTER ISD, AGAIN, BELIEVES IN ENSURING THAT STUDENTS GRADUATE, BUT NOT ONLY THAT WE WANT THEM TO GRADUATE WITH MORE THAN A DIPLOMA.
SO THIS PAST YEAR, 20 20, 20 21, WE RECEIVED A 91% GRADUATION RATE.
AND THE TWO YEARS PRIOR WE RECEIVED 100% OF OUR STUDENTS GRADUATED.
THE NEXT SLIDE IS ACTUALLY OUR 20, 20, 20, 21 BUDGETED FINANCIAL INFORMATION THAT'S ATTACHED TO OUR, UH, TAPER REPORT.
AND SO WHEN YOU CLICK ON THAT LINK, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO GO TO A LOT MORE INFORMATION, UM, UH, REGARDING THE FINANCIALS THAT'S CONNECTED TO THE TAPER REPORTING AND LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST I WANTED TO COME RIGHT BACK AROUND AND, UM, TALK THROUGH THE PUBLISH FORMATS THAT WE HAVE THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE, UH, AT YOUR FINGERTIPS.
AND SO YOU CAN CLICK ON THE QR CODES OR LINK OR WITH WHICHEVER YOU CHOOSE, BUT YOU CAN ACCESS THIS INFORMATION DIRECTLY ON OUR WEBSITE, OR IT TAKES THE SCHOOLS.GOV.
AND, UM, OF COURSE YOU CAN ALSO ACCESS THIS INFORMATION ON TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.
AND SO THAT CONCLUDES, UM, MY PRESENCE PRESENTATION THIS EVENING.
ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS AT THIS TIME AND BOARD? ANY QUESTIONS OKAY.
UM, I JUST WANT TO SAY, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR INCREASING CTE, THE CTE, UH, THAT KIND OF GEARED TO MY HEART TO MAKE SURE THAT STUDENTS HAVE EVERY OPPORTUNITY AND, AND ALL AREAS WHERE THEY WILL HAVE CHOICES AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.
UH, THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.
COUPLE OF QUESTIONS, ONE, UH, WOULD YOU JUST GIVE A DEFINITION OF WHAT THE CCM MAR IS AND HOW THAT EQUATES TO A POINT OR A SCORE FOR THE DISTRICT? SO BASICALLY WITH A COLLEGE AND CAREER MILITARY READINESS, UM, THEY LOOK AT SEVERAL INDICATORS THAT WE HAVE, SO THEY LOOK AT OUR ADVANCED, UM, ADVANCED ACADEMIC PIECES ON RAMPS, UH, UH, ADVANCED PLACEMENT.
THEY LOOK AT ALL OF OUR DUAL CREDIT OFFERINGS.
UM, MILITARY MILITARY IS NO LONGER INCLUDED,
[00:15:01]
SORRY.UM, MILITARY WAS, UH PAUL'S AND SO, AND THEN THEY ALSO LOOK AT, UM, JUST, UH, ANY OF OUR INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATIONS THAT STUDENTS MAY TAKE.
AND THEN ANYTIME A STUDENT TAKES A COLLEGE, UH, COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM THAT COUNTS.
AND THEN ALSO WE HAVE SOMETHING THAT'S CALLED TEXAS COLLEGE BRIDGE, AND THAT ALSO COUNTS TOWARDS OUR CCNR INDICATORS AS WELL.
UM, AND SO, UH, WITH, WITH THOSE POINTS, UH, UH, DR.
I MEAN, MR. JOHNSON, TELL ME THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR QUESTION THAT YOU WANTED TO ASK BESIDES WHAT IS HE CMR? NO, I THINK THAT, THAT PART SUMMED IT UP FOR HIM.
I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT COMMUNITY WAS AWARE THAT WE'RE GETTING POINTS BASED ON THESE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, WHICH ARE ADVANCING OUR STUDENTS AND PREPARING THEM FOR COLLEGE AND THEN THEREAFTER.
SO THANK YOU FOR HIGHLIGHTING THOSE.
UH, THE, THE OTHER PART IS, UH, HAVE YOU GUYS CONFIGURED A REPORT, PROBABLY INTERNAL THAT'S SHOWS THE DISTRICT AND CAMPUSES IN WHICH CAMPUSES ARE READY TO HIRE IN THESE DIFFERENT AREAS, AS FAR AS THE PERFORMANCE, PROBABLY ON SLIDE FOUR, WHERE YOU HAD, UH, I THINK IT WAS, OH, PROBABLY SLIDE FIVE, BUT YOU HAD THE COMPARISON OF THE DISTRICT TO THE STATE UNTIL THE REGION.
UH, GOING, IT'S GOING TO BE THE, UH, ALRIGHT, KEEP GOING.
OR IS IT AT THE BEGINNING? IT WAS THIS ONE HERE.
SO HAVE WE, UH, IDENTIFY THIS SAME REPORT, UH, COMPARATIVE TO EACH RESPECTIVE CAMPUS? YES.
AND I CAN ACTUALLY PROVIDE THAT TO YOU.
AND I, I GUESS FROM THERE, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I WANT TO DO, UH, FROM A BOARD PERSPECTIVE IS ONCE WE IDENTIFY AREAS OF NEED TWICE A YEAR, COME BACK AND LET US KNOW.
CAUSE I KNOW A LOT OF NEW STAFF AND WITH THE STAFF AND CONCERNS RIGHT NOW, NATIONALLY, LIKE WE MAKE SURE THAT WE RETAIN THOSE TEACHERS AND GEAR THEM AND EQUIP THEM ACCORDINGLY FOR THEY WANT TO REMAIN HERE.
AND LAST QUESTION, UH, WHICH I HOPE YOU CAN ANSWER.
I KNOW ON THE REPORT ITSELF, UH, IT SAYS THAT OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION DETERMINATION STATUS SAYS THIS NEEDS INTERVENTION INTO PREVIOUS YEARS, WE HAD, UH, OVERCOME OR WHATEVER THIS IS.
I COULDN'T PINPOINT IT WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH THE REPORT.
IN THE PREVIOUS YEARS WE HAD A ONE ON OUR RDA AND WE WENT FROM A ONE TO A THREE.
AND I WILL TELL YOU EXAMINING THE DATA WAS PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF OUR STAR GRADES DROPPED TREMENDOUSLY.
AND SO THEY PLACED US IN INTERVENTION FOR A SPECIAL EDUCATION.
AND SO WE ARE, UH, AND HAVE BEEN MEETING, UH, IN COMMITTEES TO WORK ON THAT AND TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE FORMALIZING A PLAN TO HELP THOSE STUDENTS WITH, WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.
I WILL TELL YOU THAT THE DROPOUT RATES FOR SPED AND THEN ALSO, UM, LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT, WE DID GOOD IN THOSE AREAS.
I HAD A COUPLE OF THE MIDDLE OF SCHOOL, SO I THINK THAT IS SOME CONVERSATIONS ONE, UH, AND DR.
PERRERA WOULD, COULD, YOU CAN CHIME IN ON THIS, BUT RIGHT NOW, AS PART OF, AS A SPACE, UM, WE DON'T HAVE NECESSARILY ENOUGH ROOM AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, BUT THAT HAS BEEN TALTZ AND CONVERSATIONS, BUT YES, THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.
UH, A COUPLE OF ITEMS, UH, FIRST OFF, KUDOS ON, I THINK, SLIDE NUMBER 10 WITH THE CTA CTE PROGRAMS OF STUDY.
UH, THIS TIME LAST YEAR I WAS NEW TO THE BOARD AND I GOT TO SAY, I'M ECSTATIC TO SEE OF COURSE, CYBER SECURITY, BUT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENT THAT YOU'RE ADDING, AS WELL AS ENGINEERING, HEALTH SCIENCES, UH, AND PROGRAM SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT, THOSE ARE HUGE ITEMS. AND I THINK IT'S GOING TO CARRY THE DISTRICT FOR OUR KUDOS TO YOU GUYS FOR HAVING THE FORESIGHT TO IMPLEMENT SOME CHANGE THERE.
I THINK IT'S SLIDE NUMBER FIVE OR SIX, THE ACCOUNTABILITY SUMMARY, AND I MAY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING.
SO PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO HELP ME OUT IN 8 88, A FELLOW HERE.
UH, SO I THINK YOU GAVE EXPLANATION FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY SET STATUS BEING ZERO FROM 18 TO 19, BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING YEAR 2021, IT WAS 20 A HUNDRED PERCENT AND THEN 21, 19, ALSO A HUNDRED PERCENT.
BUT I DIDN'T QUITE UNDERSTAND HOW YOU GOT THE SAME NUMBERS WITH THE GRADUATION RATE.
IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE 0%, 18, 19 ON THE GRADUATION STATUS ON THE 80 AND THE 80, NO BELOW THAT,
[00:20:01]
THE, OH, I'M SORRY.SO THAT THE CHAIN, AND THEN THE CHANGE WAS JUST A 0% IS WHAT IT'S SAYING.
AND THAT 80% THAT'S ACTUALLY UNDER CLOSING THE GAPS.
SO THEY LOOK AS STUDENTS WOULD MEET LEVEL PERFORMANCE.
AND SO THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT REFLECTING LIKE THE 99%.
BECAUSE THAT PARTICULAR CATEGORIES LOOKING AT MEETS LEVEL FULFILLMENT.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? I LIKE TO SAY DEFINITELY THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT.
AND I DO REALIZE WHERE THERE ARE SOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR US TO MAKE FOR IMPROVEMENT, AND WE DO REALIZE THE RATIONALE BEING IN THE PANDEMIC.
SO I JUST DEFINITELY WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO PLEASE CONTINUE WORKING WITH OUR STUDENTS TO DEFINITELY CLOSE THE GAPS AND BRING THE SCORES UP.
UM, I JUST WANTED TO CIRCLE BACK TO SOMETHING, UM, ISABELLE SHARED ABOUT THE INCREASE OF, UH, CTE PROGRAMS. I CAN'T TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THAT.
I KNOW SUPERINTENDENT, YOU GET ALL THE HYPE AND THE, AND THE GRIPE, BUT NONETHELESS, I HAVE TO RECOGNIZE OUR INSTRUCTIONAL TEAM HERE WHO HAVE REALLY WORKED HARD TO MAKE THAT COME TO FRUITION FOR OUR STUDENTS IS BASKIN DROPPED THE BARFORD THAT JACKSON IS HOWARD.
I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE AUDIENCE KNOWS THAT THE SIGN OFF ON A LOT OF THINGS YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO EXIT CARRY THIS OUT.
IF THERE'S NO MORE QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD, THIS IS A PUBLIC HEARING.
ARE THERE ANY COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE? OKAY.
THE I'M HEARING THE PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE TAPE REPORT.
THE TIME IS 6 23 AT THIS TIME.
I'LL CALL FOR A MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT.
IS THERE A MOTION? SO MO I HAVE A MOTION ON MS. MORRIS THERE A SECOND.
SECOND BY MR. STEVENSON, ALL IN FAVOR.
SAY I THINK THIS TIME WE'RE CLOSED AT 6 23, 6 20 4:00 PM.
