ALL RIGHT.

WELCOME

[00:00:01]

EVERYONE.

THE

[3. Call Meeting to Order]

DATE IS AUGUST 24TH, 2021 MEETING OF A LACK OF STASH.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IS NOW CALLED TO ORDER.

THE TIME IS 6:07 PM.

THE MEETING HAS BEEN HELD AT THE LENGTHS ADMINISTRATION BUILDING BOARD AUDITORIUM 4 22 SOUTH CENTER AVENUE, LANCASTER, TEXAS.

THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTED IN ACCORDANCE TO THE TEXAS OPENS MEETING ACT.

I WILL NOW TAKE ROLL HONORABLE SMITH HERE.

I DON'T BULL MAURICE DAVIS HERE MYSELF AND I BELIEVE WE HAVE MADAM CHAIR IS COMING IN THROUGH, UH, VIRTUALLY.

SO I HAVE NOT, WE DO HAVE A QUORUM IN PLACE AND I'M GOING TO FOREGO ALL THE FORMALITIES OF THE, UH, SPECIFICATION OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, AS FAR AS US GOING VIRTUAL, THEN YOU CAN PIPE IN AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF.

SO I'LL NOW TURN IT OVER TO SUPERINTENDENT DR.

PEREZ.

THANK YOU, TRUSTEE JONES.

UM,

[6. LISD Data Overview]

TODAY WE'VE COME TOGETHER, UM, TO DO WHAT WE KNOW TO BE A DATA DIVE.

WE WILL BE LOOKING AT EACH OF OUR DEPARTMENTS, UM, AND SHARING A LITTLE BIT OF AN OVERVIEW, UM, WITH THE BOARD, UH, REALLY TO HOPE IN, IN HOPES AND GOAL OF CREATING A PICTURE OF WHERE WE WERE, UM, WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE'D LIKE TO BE IN THE NEXT TWO TO THREE YEARS.

UM, AND AGAIN, THAT'S INCLUSIVE OF EVERY DEPARTMENT THAT WE HAVE HERE, AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN BE ABLE TO SEE THE CONNECTIONS ON HOW THEY INTERPLAY AND HOW IMPORTANT ONE IS.

IT DEPENDS ON THE OTHER IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

SO AGAIN, TODAY WE ARE GATHERING, UM, KNOWING THAT THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE, UM, BUT NOT A WHOLE LOT OF TIME TO DO IT.

UH, BUT THAT'S ALWAYS A RUSH DURING ANY SCHOOL YEAR.

UM, AND TODAY WE'LL, HOPEFULLY AGAIN, WE'LL LEARN A LOT ABOUT WHERE WE'VE BEEN, WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE'RE HOPE TO BE.

UM, I HAVE NO INTEREST IN, YOU KNOW, REALLY TOOTING ANYBODY'S HORN TODAY NOR MAKING ANYONE FEEL BAD, UH, BUT TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE ALL AWARE OF THAT THERE ARE GLOWS FOR OUR DISTRICT TO CONTINUE TO BUILD UPON.

UM, AND THERE'S STILL ROOM TO GROW.

UM, THE INFORMATION, AGAIN, SHARED TODAY WILL BE INFORMATION THAT WILL HOPEFULLY HELP US CONNECT, UM, AS WELL AS GROUND US IN THE FOUNDATIONS OF OUR VISION, WHICH IS WHY WE ACTUALLY EXIST AS A SCHOOL SYSTEM, AS WELL AS OUR MISSION AND IS WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH AS A DISTRICT, UM, THAT WILL ALL BUILD ON AND CONNECT IT TO OUR BELIEFS AS A, AS A DISTRICT, CONNECTING AGAIN, OUR PLANNING, CONNECTING OUR GOALS, UM, OUR POLICIES, OUR BUDGET, AND EVERY ACTION THAT WE TAKE.

UH, NONE OF US HERE TODAY CAN'T AFFORD ANY OTHER DISTRACTIONS OTHER THAN ENSURING THAT OUR WORK IS INTENTIONAL GOING FORWARD.

AND IDEALLY EVERYONE PRESENT HAS A, HAS TO FOCUS FORWARD AND CONTINUE TO BUILD ON THE GREAT THINGS I LIKE TO START ISD, UH, AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR MISSION AND VISION.

UH, AND AS A REMINDER TO OUR PUBLIC, UM, WE WILL BE ENGAGING IN DIFFERENT POINTS.

WE'LL HAVE, UH, STOP POINTS THAT WE WILL STOP AND REFLECT.

UH, WE HAVE A GALLERY WALK PLAN WHERE EACH PERSON, EACH PERSON PRESENT WILL GO IN AND ADD THEIR IDEAS AND INFORMATION TO SECTIONS.

UH, YOU'LL SEE, ON YOUR MONITOR AT THE MOMENT, UM, UH, DATA DIVE, PADLET LINK THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO GIVE YOUR INPUT, UH, VIRTUALLY AND PRESENTLY WHILE YOU'RE HERE PRESENT.

UM, AND AS A REMINDER OF OUR MISSION VISION, IF WHOEVER'S CLICKING THERE, MISS, MISS, UM, YES, OUR, OUR VISION OF OUR DISTRICT AGAIN, IS TO GRADUATE EVERY STUDENT AT SUCCESS.

UM, AND I WANT TO PUT AN EMPHASIS ON EVERY SINGLE STUDENT, UM, AS WELL AS OUR MISSION ALSO, UM, BECAUSE FOR SURE THAT WE'RE EMPOWERING ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AGAIN WITH THEIR PURPOSE AND THEIR PASSION.

UM, AND AS A REMINDER FOR THE BELIEFS OF OUR DISTRICT, WE WANT TO ENSURE THAT I JUST WANT TO HIGHLIGHT A COUPLE OF THINGS ON HERE.

UH, AND THAT WE ALL, AS A DISTRICT, WE, WE HA WE ALL HAVE TO CONNECT TO AND BELIEVE IN THE SAME THINGS AND WHAT THE DISTRICT HAS ENGAGED IN BELIEFS ARE THOSE THINGS AS EQUITY, WHERE WE BELIEVE THAT IT IS A HUMAN RIGHT, THAT WE ALL SHARE RESPONSIBILITY AND ENSURING THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE WELL-ROUNDED INDIVIDUALS, UH, THAT WE ENGAGE THEM IN RELEVANT, UM, LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT WE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEM TO BECOME LIFELONG LEARNERS IN THAT PROCESS, UH, THAT WE HELP THEM GROW FROM PAST EXPERIENCES.

UM, AND THAT IN OUR PLANNING AND OUR, UM, STRATEGIC OUTLOOK ON THINGS THAT WE'RE LEADING WITH INTENTIONS THAT FOR OUTCOMES TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THAT WE ALL, ALL OF OUR STUDENTS, AS WELL AS OUR STAFF HAVE A RIGHT TO A SAFE AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING.

NOW, FROM THAT, WE LOOK AT A SCENARIO, YOU HAVE A NICE VISION, WE HAVE A NICE MISSION, UM, AND ALSO SOME GREAT

[00:05:01]

BELIEFS, BUT HOW DO YOU BUILD UP ON THAT IS REALLY THE ACTION THAT WE HAVE TO PUT INTO PLACE.

AND AS WE REVIEW DATA TODAY, THINK ABOUT THE INTERPLAY OF HOW A THEORY OF ACTION WORKS.

TO ME.

A THEORY OF ACTION IS A CONNECTED, UH, A CONNECTION OF THE MISSION, THE VISION, UH, THOSE STRATEGIES THAT ADD A LITTLE CLARITY AND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT, AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE, UM, THE, THE MONITOR HERE.

WE HAVE, EVERYONE HAS A RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS WHOLE PIECE AND CENTERED AROUND OUR STUDENTS, WHICH IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT AS TO HERE, AS WE LOOK AT BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND FAMILIES, UH, AS ONE ENTITY, WE LOOK AT AS WELL AS OUR SOUP, MY OFFICE, AS WELL AS OUR CABINET, OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS WHO ARE ALL PRESENT HERE WITH US TODAY AS WELL.

UM, OUR CAMPUS STAFF MEMBERS, AS WELL AS AGAIN, PARENTS AND FAMILIES, WHICH ALL SUPPORT THAT CENTERPIECE, WHICH IS OUR STUDENT, UM, AND THAT'S PURPOSELY DRAWN IN THAT WAY IS A CIRCLE THAT ENCLOSES AND WRAPS AROUND OUR STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN GET TO WHERE THEY NEED.

AGAIN, OUR THEORY OF ACTION HAS TO BE THAT IT'S ESSENTIALLY IMPORTANT THAT THEIR CONNECTION, THAT WHAT OUR PARENTS AND OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES DOES ALLOWS THE CABINET AND MY OFFICE TO DO WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO ENSURE THAT, THAT, THAT AFFORDS CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS, AS WELL AS STAFF, THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE RESOURCES AND DO WHAT THEY NEED ON BEHALF OF OUR STUDENTS.

SO ESSENTIALLY AGAIN, IT'S A SERIES OF CONNECTED, UH, STATEMENTS AND WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT, WHICH IS WHAT OUR THEORY OF ACTION, UM, BECOMES.

AND WITH THAT, UM, OUR MOST IMPORTANT PIECE HERE IS AGAIN, IS OUR FAMILIES AND THE STUDENTS THAT WE SERVE.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE, SOME OF OUR PHOTOS FROM OUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WHICH WAS A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO, UM, WE WERE ALREADY INTO IT AND, UM, MOVING IN, IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, I THINK, UH, HAD SOME HICCUPS ALONG THE WAY, BUT ALL IS ALL, UM, IT'S ALL WE WERE AT A GOOD PLACE.

AND AGAIN, OUR BOARD MEMBERS AND MOST OF THE PRESENT HERE TODAY AND OUR CABINET MEMBERS, UM, ARE PRESENT AS WELL.

AND OUR CAMPUS, UM, UH, LEADERS AS WELL ARE PRESENT.

AND SO WITH THAT, I'VE ASKED THAT YOU LOOK AT AN OPPORTUNITY THAT WE ARE, UM, WHAT WOULD IT BE WORTH IF WE COULD ALL ASSURE THAT EVERY KINDERGARTNER ENTERING OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT THIS YEAR, UM, COULD COME TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY AND LEAVE EVERY DAY, FEELING LOVE, FEELING SAFE, UH, NOT BEING THREATENED, UM, THAT THEIR NEEDS ARE BEING MET AND THAT THEY HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO ENSURE THAT THEY'RE ABLE TO LEARN, UH, AND ENSURE THAT THEY'RE READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL AND, AND CLOSING THE GAPS.

I THINK A BETTER WAY TO ASK THAT QUESTION MIGHT BE, WHAT WOULD IT TAKE AND WHAT WOULD IT TAKE BEGINS WITH OUR HUMAN CAPITAL? UM, AND THAT BEGINS WITH ENSURING THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT STAFF PRESENT.

IT BEGINS WITH ENSURING THAT WE HAVE, UH, AN OPPORTUNITY TO RETAIN THOSE STAFF MEMBERS.

UM, AND WHAT ARE THEY WILLING TO DO IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS GET WHAT THEY NEED AND THAT THEY ARE A SUCCESS.

AND SO YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE BIT OF OUR DATA FROM HUMAN CAPITAL, AND I'M GOING TO ALLOW, UM, DR.

TAYLOR TO COME FORWARD AND TALK A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THIS A LITTLE CLOSER.

AND AS SHE'S TALKING YOU THROUGH THAT, I'VE ASKED THAT YOU, UM, THE AUDIENCE, AS WELL AS THE BOARD HERE, LOOK AT OPPORTUNITIES TO REFLECT ON WHAT YOU NOTICED AS THE DATA'S BEING SHARED, AS WELL AS WHAT ARE YOUR WONDERS OR WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT AS WE GO THROUGH AND THAT'S AGAIN, THROUGH FOR EACH, EACH AND EVERY DEPARTMENT THAT WILL PRESENT SOME INFORMATION TODAY.

UM, DR.

TAYLOR, UM, THE FLOOR IS YOURS.

GOOD EVENING BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE, DR.

PRAYER, OUR HUMAN CAPITAL.

THIS IS OUR FISCAL YEAR, 20 20, 20 21 ENDING NUMBERS.

SO OUR GRAND TOTAL FOR THE END OF LAST YEAR, 917, AS WE LOOK HERE, WE CAN SEE THAT, UM, OUR HIGHEST, UM, EMPLOYEES ARE AT NON-CAMPUS WITH 275.

OF COURSE, THAT INCLUDES CENTRAL OFFICE.

AND OF COURSE OUR ESSENTIAL WORKERS, SUCH AS BUS DRIVERS AND AUXILIARY STAFF, AND THEN WE CAN SEE OUR CAMPUS NUMBERS THERE.

SO OF COURSE OUR HIGHEST CAMPUS NUMBER IS, UH, LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL AT 1 45.

AND THE LEAST AMOUNT REPRESENTATIVE IS JD HALL WITH 11 STAFF MEMBERS.

BUT, UH, THAT JUST SHOWS A PICTURE THERE.

AND THEN OF COURSE, WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT OUR 75% STAFF RETENTION RATE WITH ALL OF THE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR.

AND COVID, UH, WE ARE HAPPY TO REPORT STILL 75% STAFF RETENTION, AND THAT IS AN ALIGNMENT WITH OUR COLLABORATIVE VISION OR SHE CHEATED PLAN HERE FOR THIS YEAR.

WE JUST TOOK A SNAPSHOT OF WHERE OUR TEACHERS ARE WITH CERTIFICATIONS FOR THIS CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR FOR 2122.

AND

[00:10:01]

SO WE CAN SEE THERE, WE HAVE 796 CERTIFICATIONS REPRESENTATIVE THROUGH ESPEC, AND WE KNOW THAT OVER TIME, THOSE CHANGE WITH THE DIFFERENT TESTING REQUIREMENTS, WE CAN SEE HERE THAT ECC 12, THERE'S 168.

AND THEN OF COURSE THERE'S, UH, SOME LOWER PERCENTILE NUMBERS THERE, BUT OF COURSE, UM, IS THAT TEST CHANGE THEN, UM, WE ARE HAPPY TO HAVE THOSE, UH, INDIVIDUALS IN THOSE CERTIFICATIONS SO THAT WE CAN, UH, HAVE THOSE SPOTS FIELD, OUR DEMOGRAPHICS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

UM, OF COURSE WE PROUDLY SERVE 72,000 STUDENTS WHO ARE 86% ARE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGE, OUR HISPANIC POPULATIONS AT 20%.

AFRICAN-AMERICAN 86% AND THEY CAN SEE THE OTHER ETHNICITIES.

THEY'RE TWO OR MORE, 2% WHITE, OF COURSE, 1% AMERICAN INDIAN 4.4%, AND THEN ASIAN 0.2%.

AND, UM, OF COURSE, UH, ALONG WITH DIVERSITY, WE BELIEVE IN EQUALITY FOR ALL EQUITY FOR ALL.

UM, THERE, THIS IS A SNAPSHOT OF OUR STUDENT ENROLLMENT, UM, TO GIVE US A TRUER PICTURE BECAUSE WE'RE NOT AT PM SNAPSHOT THIS YEAR.

WE TOOK DAY ONE OF THE LAST SCHOOL YEAR, AS WELL AS THIS SCHOOL YEAR FOR AUGUST 16.

SO COHORT 2021 CLASS 2021, WE HAD 6,861 STUDENTS.

AND THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE STARTED WITH 7,398 STUDENTS.

SO WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT INCREASE THERE AS STUDENTS CONTINUE TO ENROLL ON A DAILY BASIS.

YES, WE'LL HAVE FINANCIAL CAPITAL BY MISHAWNA HUMPHREY.

AND WHILE MR. HUMPHREYS MAKING HER WAY UP FRONT, UM, I JUST WANTED TO PUT THIS IN HERE BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT, YOU KNOW, OUR STUDENTS, WE RECEIVED DOLLARS FROM OUR STATE.

YOU CAN COME UP MS. HUMPHRIES, UM, FROM OUR STATE PER STUDENT, THE ROLE HERE, AS WELL AS YOU KNOW, ON THE ATTENDANCE PIECE.

UM, AND I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT AS WE LOOK AT OUR ENROLLMENT, NOT JUST LOOK AT OUR ENROLLMENT NUMBERS, BUT ALSO TO LOOK HOW WE'RE DOING FINANCIALLY, HOW WE'RE LEVERAGING THOSE DOLLARS.

UM, THOSE ARE THE BUSINESS WORLD WILL KNOW THE ROI AS A RETURN ON INVESTMENT.

UM, BUT IN EDUCATION WE'D LIKE TO SAY RETURN ON INSTRUCTION WITH THAT SOFTWARE IS THE FLOOR IS YOURS GOOD EVENING, UH, SUPERINTENDENT PERRERA DISTINGUISHED TRUSTEES.

UH, TONIGHT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT OUR FINANCIAL CAPITAL HERE AT THE DISTRICT, AS DR.

PERRERA SAID, UM, THE STATE OF TEXAS HAS, UH, IMPLEMENTED A SCORECARD FOR FINANCIAL DEPARTMENTS, UM, IN VERY IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT SYSTEM.

AND OUR RATINGS ARE HERE FROM FISCAL 2017 UP UNTIL CURRENT.

AND I'LL JUST KIND OF WALK YOU THROUGH THOSE VERY BRIEFLY.

UM, IN FISCAL 2017, WE RECEIVED A SCORE OF 86, WHICH EQUATES TO BE IN THE SCORES ON A RANGE FROM ZERO TO 100, UM, IN FISCAL 2018, THE DISTRICT RECEIVED A 78.

AND I JUST LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WE HAD TO IMPLEMENT, UM, THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM.

SO WE HAD TO ACQUIRE THE PAT S UH, SERVICE CENTER, WHICH REQUIRED A LARGE CAPITAL OUTLAY, UH, THANKFUL WE HAD THE CASH TO MAKE THAT PURCHASE.

BUT, UM, AS A RESULT OF THAT AND DIPPING INTO OUR FUND BALANCE, WE DID RECEIVE A SCORE OF 78 IN FISCAL 2019.

WE WERE ABLE TO BRING THAT UP TO A SCORE OF A 90 AND A, AND FOR FISCAL 2020, UH, THE BOARD WILL, WILL RECEIVE A DETAILED REPORT, UM, REGARDING THAT IN DECEMBER, UM, CAUSE THEY RELEASED IT A YEAR AND A REARS.

AND SO TWO WEEKS AGO WE GOT THE PRELIMINARY SCORE OF 88, WHICH IS REFLECTED HERE ON THE SLIDE.

AND AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, UM, DURING, UH, THE BOARD WORKSHOP AND ALSO WE HAD OUR MOODY'S RATING, UH, PRESENTATION, UH, SOME OF THE CHALLENGES IN THE DISTRICT OR THE ENROLLMENT GROWTH OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS AS IT RELATES TO OUR DEBT.

AND SO THAT WAS, UH, ONE OF THE AREAS WHERE WE LOST SOME POINTS.

SO AS I PRESENTED IN THE BOARD WORKSHOP, WE'RE LOOKING, UM, AS THE YEARS GO FORWARD TO TRY TO PAY THAT DEBT DOWN.

UM, I'VE SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF, FOR CONSIDERATION AT THE THURSDAY MEETING A RESOLUTION TO PRE-PAY, UM, SOME CALLABLE BONDS DOWN.

AND SO AS WE LOOK TO PLAN, UH, THAT FOR THE FUTURE TO GET OUR DEBT NUMBERS DOWN AND GET OUR ENROLLMENT INCREASED, UH, WE SHOULD BE ON SOLID GROUND TO ACHIEVE OUR A THANK YOU, MISS HUMPHRIES.

AND AS, UM, SHE'S TAKING THE SEAT IN AND DR.

PRICE IS COMING FORWARD TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CAPITOL ISLET, UH, OUTLAY, WHAT TO ENSURE THAT, UM, BOARD KNOWS THERE ARE STICKY NOTES THERE ON YOUR DESKTOP, UM, AS WELL FOR YOU TO WRITE DOWN YOUR, WHAT YOU'VE NOTICED AND YOU WONDER, UM, WE'LL DO, UH, TAKE A, UH, A SHORT OPPORTUNITY TO REFLECT ON THAT, UH, ONCE, UH, DR.

PRICE HAS DONE.

SO FROM THE DEPARTMENTS

[00:15:01]

YOU'VE HEARD FROM THUS FAR, BOTH Q1 CAPITAL AND, UM, FINANCE AND NOW OPERATIONS, WHAT HAVE YOU NOTICE AND WHAT ARE YOU WONDERING ABOUT AS WE GO THROUGH THIS GOOD, GOOD EVENING, DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR.

BARRERA OR SUPERINTENDENT? UM, I BELIEVE YOU HAVE, UH, INFORMATION, UH, PACKET, UH, THAT FURNISHES DETAILS OF THE ITEMS THAT I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT.

UH, THIS EVENING, THE FIRST ONE IS THE PROJECTS THAT WE COMPLETED FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021 IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, OPERATIONS COMPLETED A TOTAL OF SIX PROJECTS WITH THE LARGEST AND MOST IMPACTFUL PROJECT BEING THE COMPLETION OF THE ELSIE ROBINSON MIDDLE SCHOOL.

AND I CALLED, I CALL US OF APPROXIMATELY $62 MILLION.

IN ADDITION TO THAT NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, WE ALSO COMPLETED FIVE DISTRICT PROJECTS AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $500,000.

THE NEXT ITEM IN YOUR PACKAGE SHOULD BE THE, UM, ITEMS THAT WE HAVE FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022.

IN THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE ARE PROPOSING SIX CAPITAL PROJECTS TOTALLING 1 MILLION, 100, $132,749, INCLUDING ONE DISTRICT PROJECT, THREE CAMPUS-BASED PROJECTS, ONE ATHLETIC PROJECT, AND ONE SPECIAL EDUCATION PROJECT.

IN ADDITION TO THE, UH, CAPITAL PROJECTS PAID OUT OF THE GENERAL FUND, WE ALSO PLAN TO COMPLETE CAPITAL PROJECTS, TOTALING 6 MILLION, 550,000 FOR FISCAL YEARS, 22 AND 23 FUNDED FROM OUR THENS AND BOND FUNDS INCLUDED IN THAT LIST OF CAPITAL PROJECTS ARE FIVE CAMPUS-BASED HVHC REPLACEMENTS, INCLUDING LEAD CHILLER SYSTEM AND, UH, LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL.

WE'RE ALSO SCHEDULED TO REPLACE THE HVAC SYSTEM AT THE STUDENT EXPLORATION AND ENGAGEMENT CENTER, OR THE SEAT BUILDING AS WELL AS REPLACING, UH, LED LIGHTING AT ALL OF THESE SITES THAT DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE LED LIGHTING WITH THE COMPLETION OF THESE PROJECTS YOU SHOULD HAVE IN YOUR PACKET, A PRIORITIZED LIST OF REMAINING CAPITAL PROJECTS.

AND SO WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECTS THAT I'VE JUST TALKED ABOUT, WE WILL HAVE 16 REMAINING PROJECTS THAT ARE REFLECTED ON YOUR PRIORITIZED SUMMARY OF CAPITAL PROJECTS.

AND THAT LIST TOTALS ALMOST $6 MILLION.

YOU WILL NOTICE THAT TWO OF THESE PROJECTS OR ATHLETIC PROJECTS TOTALING APPROXIMATELY $1,600,000, WHICH WE INTEND TO WORK WITH THE CHIEF OF ATHLETICS AND HER TEAM TO EXPLORE CREATIVE FINANCING ALTERNATIVES, SUCH AS SPONSORSHIPS, NAMING RIGHTS AND, UH, ADVERTISING OPTIONS IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THESE TWO PROJECTS.

THOSE TWO PROJECTS ARE A NEW SCOREBOARD FOR TYCO STADIUM AND ALSO A NEW, UH, SCHOOL BOARD FOR OUR COLISEUM AS WELL.

NOW, IF WE ARE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY, UH, FUND THE ATHLETICS INITIATIVES, THAT WOULD TAKE ONE, UH, THAT WOULD TAKE, UH, 1,600,000 AWAY FROM THAT PRIORITIZED LIST, REDUCING THE NUMBER TO 4 MILLION, $400,000 OTHER ITEMS OF CONSIDERATION.

I JUST WANT TO TALK BRIEFLY ABOUT OUR TRANSPORTATION FLEET.

UH, WE HAPPENED TO BE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE WITH THE TRANSPORTATION, UH, FLEET WITH THE EXCEPTION OF, UH, TWO SPECIAL EDUCATION, UH, BUSES THAT WE NEED TO, UH, TO REPLACE.

UH, WE ALSO NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT OUR WHITE FLEET IN TERMS OF THE CARS AND TRUCKS THAT WE USE, UH, IN THE DISTRICT, UH, TO DO, UH, OUR DAILY WORK AND ALSO TO, UH, LEASE OUT TO, UH, OR LOAN OUT TO, UH, UH, STAFF AND FACULTY WHO HAVE TO TAKE TRIPS AND THAT KIND OF THING FOR PROFESSIONAL, UH, PURPOSES.

UM, WE, WE NEED A, A POLICY ON, UH, REPLACING, UH, OUR WHITE FLEET AND WE'RE LOOKING AT, UH, LEASING AS A POSSIBLE OPTION TO AN ALTERNATIVE THAT WOULD BRING OUR WHITE FLEET MORE UP TO, UH, UP TO DATE.

WE ALSO ARE UNDERGOING A, UH, REVIEW OF OUR INVESTMENT, UH, LAND AS A MEANS OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL REVENUE TO THE DISTRICT.

AND ALSO AS A MEANS OF REDUCING THE WORKLOAD ON OUR GROUNDS STAFF.

NOW, WHEN I SAY

[00:20:01]

INVESTMENT LAND, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT, UH, ANY LAND, OF COURSE, THAT THE DISTRICT HAS PURCHASED FOR A SPECIFIC PERS, UH, PURPOSES SUCH AS THE, UH, UH, CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW SCHOOL SITE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

I'M TALKING ABOUT, UH, JUST INVESTMENT LAND THAT, UH, THAT, THAT WE ARE, ARE HOLDING.

FINALLY, I WANT TO SAY THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT OPERATIONS AND BECOMING MORE EFFICIENT.

WE WANT TO IMPROVE OUR TURNOVER, UH, UH, OUR TURNAROUND AND, UH, IN WORK ORDERS, WORK ORDERS ARE CURRENTLY TAKING US ABOUT ON AVERAGE 14 DAYS, UH, TO, UH, COMPLETE.

WE WANT THAT NUMBER DOWN TO AT LEAST, UH, SEVEN, UM, THAT WE NEED TO ALSO WORK WITH HIM WHEN RESOURCES TO LOOK AT, UH, STAFFING IN OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE, AND TRANSPORTATION, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ALLOCATING OUR HUMAN RESOURCES AS THEY SHOULD BE.

UH, WE ALSO WANT TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE OUR EMPLOYEES TO ACHIEVE CERTIFICATIONS.

CURRENTLY WE HAVE TWO EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE HVAC CERTIFICATIONS.

WE HAVE TWO EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT, UH, UH, CERTIFICATION.

AND THIS, UH, FISCAL YEAR IS, UH, UH, THE EXTRA LAST FISCAL YEAR WAS THE FIRST FISCAL YEAR IN THE HISTORY OF THE DISTRICT THAT WE'VE HAD A FULL TIME, UH, PEST CONTROL PERSON ON OUR STAFF, WHICH WAS GREATLY, UH, NEEDED.

WE ALSO HAVE ONE EMPLOYEE IN, UH, OPERATIONS WITH MULTIPLE CERTIFICATIONS AND TRANSPORTATION ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION, EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS, AND ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY, UH, COMPLIANCE.

THAT CONCLUDES MY PRESENTATION.

OKAY, GOOD EVENING.

UH, SUPERINTENDENT, UH, DR.

PERRERA AND OUR DISTINGUISHED BOARD MEMBERS, UH, WANTED TO JUST SAY IT IS FEEDBACK TIME.

SO NOW WE'RE GOING TO TAKE AN OPPORTUNITY TO, UH, ACTUALLY CLICK ONTO OUR PADLET.

AND THESE ARE OUR FIRST TWO QUESTIONS.

WHAT OBSERVATIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT HUMAN CAPITAL? UH, ALSO WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO PRIORITIZE, UH, THE CAPITAL OUTLAY PROJECTS FOR 2021 SCHOOL YEAR AND SHARE YOUR RATIONALE THERE.

SO WE'LL, WE'LL TAKE A COUPLE OF MINUTES AT THIS TIME, AND IF YOU'LL CLICK TAKE YOUR CELL PHONE OR YOUR COMPUTER DEVICE, OR HOWEVER YOU WANT TO DO IT, IT'S EASIEST WITH THE CELL PHONE.

AND IF YOU'LL JUST SCAN THAT QR CODE, THE PADLET WILL POP UP ON YOUR PHONE OR YOUR CAMERA, YOUR CAMERA ON, OKAY, TURN YOUR CAMERA ON, ON YOUR PHONE, AND THEN IF YOU'LL SCAN IT, AND THEN IT WILL POP UP.

THANK YOU, DR.

PERRERA, IT'LL POP UP ON YOUR SCREEN AND THEN YOU'LL BE ABLE TO CLICK INTO YOUR PADLET.

ONCE THAT POPS UP, YOU'LL SEE A GRID OF INFORMATION AT THIS TOP, AND YOU'LL BE ABLE TO CLICK ONTO A LITTLE PLUS MARK.

AND THEN ONCE YOU CLICK ON THE PLUS, MARK, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO TYPE IN YOUR INFORMATION AND THEN CLICK SUBMIT AND THAT YOUR INFORMATION WILL POP UP ONTO THE PADLET.

THAT INCLUDES THE AUDIENCE AS WELL.

AND THAT INCLUDES THE AUDIENCE AS WELL.

SO WE WILL LIVE FOR EVERYONE IN THE ROOM TO PARTICIPATE WITH US.

THIS IS A WORKSHOP.

AND SO WE WANT EVERYONE PARTICIPATING ALL OF OUR CONSTITUENTS IN THE AUDIENCE AS WELL.

WE HAVE TWO MINUTES TO DO THIS, AND THE TIMER STARTS NOW

[00:25:30]

HAVE ABOUT 20 SECONDS AND THEN WE'LL MOVE TO ANOTHER ACTIVITY.

AND THEN WE'LL HAVE A QUICK BREAK.

SO AS MENTIONED, THIS IS A WORKSHOP AND PART OF WHAT DR.

RAY, DR.

PERRERA MENTIONED TO YOU ALL, IS SHE ASKED FOR YOU TO TAKE ON YOUR STICKY NOTES AND PLACE WHAT YOU NOTICED IN A COUPLE OF THE PRESENTATIONS AND WHAT YOU WONDER THE PRESENTATIONS THAT WE LIKE TO GET THE, GET YOUR FEEDBACK, GATHER YOUR FEEDBACK ON.

UM, WE'D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU NOTICED IN THE HUMAN CAPITAL, UM, FINANCE AND CAPITAL OUTLAY, AND WHAT YOU STILL WONDER.

A LOT OF TIMES WE MAKE PLANS, WE BUILD STRATEGY.

WE DON'T GET A CHANCE TO REALLY COLLECT ALL OF THE THOUGHTS.

AND SO, AS WE GO THROUGH AND GIVE YOU ABOUT THE DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS, THE DIFFERENT AREAS, WE ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO COLLECT YOUR THOUGHTS AROUND WHAT YOU NOTICED AND WHAT YOU WONDER.

AND SO WE'LL TAKE A LITTLE BREAK SO THAT PEOPLE CAN TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES OR STAND UP AND STRETCH.

UM, AND DURING THAT STRETCH TIME, WE HAVE POSTED AROUND, UH, HERE, UM, STRATEGICALLY, WE HAVE STATION ONE HERE, BUT WE HAVE SOME OF THE STATIONS OUTSIDE, UM, STATION TWO, WHICH IS FINANCE AND STATION THREE CAPITAL OUTLAY IN THE BACK HERE.

IT WAS ONE AND THEN SOME IN THE HALLWAY.

SO WE WERE TRYING TO GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO, TO GET UP AND MOVE AROUND, USE THE RESTROOM DURING THIS TIME.

WE'LL TAKE ABOUT FOUR MINUTES TO DO THAT.

BUT AGAIN, WE'D LIKE TO, TO CAPTURE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT WHAT YOU NOTICED AND WHAT YOU WONDER AT THE END OF THE FOUR MINUTES, WE'LL COME BACK AND TALK A BIT ABOUT, UH, CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION AND GET INTO OUR DATA AND SOME OTHER, UH, MEATY ITEMS THAT HOPEFULLY YOU'LL ENJOY GATHERING DATA ABOUT, UH, HEARING DATA ABOUT THAT AS WELL.

SO DURING THE BREAK, IF YOU'LL TAKE YOUR STICKY NOTES TO THOSE POSTERS AND PUT THEM ON THERE, UM, DURING THIS TIME AFTER YOU'VE OF COURSE WRITTEN THEM DOWN, I LEAVE THE TIMER HERE, HOPEFULLY

[00:30:56]

WE HAVE ABOUT A MINUTE AND A HALF .

THERE ARE ALSO STATIONS OUTSIDE.

IF EVERYONE CAN START WRAPPING UP AND MAKING THEIR WAY BACK TO THEIR SEATS, WE'LL GET STARTED IN ABOUT 20 SECONDS.

TALK TO BARBARA WHEN YOU'RE READY.

WE HAVE ONE MORE, ONE MORE MS. BELL IS GOING TO HELP US OR HER, MY GAVEL.

THEN THAT MEANS WE'RE OFFICIAL IS NOT A WORK SITE THERE.

SO HOPEFULLY EVERYONE HAS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO EITHER OR BOTH WRITE DOWN WHAT THEY NOTICE

[00:35:01]

IN THERE AND OR WHAT THEY WONDER CAPITAL OUTLAY, HUMAN CAPITAL, AS WELL AS FINANCES.

AND I KNOW THOSE WERE OUR QUICK OVERVIEWS OF THOSE AREAS.

UH, WE'LL ALSO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY LATER ON, AS WE GO THROUGH THE GALLERY WALK, UM, EVERYONE PRESENT WILL, WILL ROTATE THROUGH THE STATIONS.

UM, IF THERE ARE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS REGARDING THOSE AREAS, UH, THE DEPARTMENT LEADS OR THE CHIEFS OF THOSE AREAS WILL BE AT THOSE STATIONS TO ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS.

DR.

BARKER, I THINK YOU'RE ALL BACK NOW.

YEP.

ONE THING THAT WHEN PUTTING TOGETHER AND PULLING TOGETHER DATA, WE ALWAYS TRY TO LOOK, LOOK AT WAYS TO KIND OF BUILD CONTEXT.

SO WANTED TO TAKE A LOOK BACK AND I'M LIKELY MANY OF YOU ON THE DIAS CAN TELL THIS STORY A LOT BETTER THAN I CAN.

UM, BECAUSE BACK IN 2012, UH, YOU WERE HERE A PART OF THE LANCASTER COMMUNITY AND, AND, UM, WE'RE A PART KNEW ABOUT THE, THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE DISTRICT, UH, THE TEI FOUNDATION AND EDUCATE TEXAS THAT, UM, ANNOUNCED THE STEM DESIGNATION THAT WOULD FOREVER CHANGE THE LANDSCAPE BEING OF OUR DISTRICT.

UM, WE BECAME A CELEBRATED MODEL AS THE NEW STEM DISTRICT MODEL THAT WOULD TRANSFORM THE TEACHING OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH WITH HOPES OF YIELDING GREATER OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR LANCASTER SCHOLARS IN 2012, UM, $4.8 MILLION WAS GRANTED TO OUR DISTRICT TO INVEST IN OUR STUDENTS TO ENSURE HIGHLY SKILLED AND, UH, THAT WE BUILT, UM, CULTIVATED, HIGHLY SKILLED, UM, COMPETITIVE WORKFORCE READY STUDENTS.

UM, AS THIS NEW INITIATIVE ROLLED OUT, THERE WERE VISITORS FROM, UH, THIS EVEN SOUNDS LIKE A FAIRYTALE, BUT IT'S ALL TRUE FOREIGN WHITE WHO CAME TO LOOK AT AND WATCH.

UM, AS WE SCALED OUT OUR RIGOROUS STEM COLLEGE READY CURRICULUM DISTRICT WIDE, AND WE, UM, COLLECTIVELY ALIGN THAT WITH THE VISION OF THE COMMUNITY, UM, OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, OUR REGIONAL COMMUNITY AND RESOURCES AROUND TO LEVERAGE INDUSTRY OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR SCHOLARS.

THIS IS JUST PICTURES OF WHAT THAT IMPACT LOOKS LIKE, UH, HAD STUDENTS TO, TO BUILD A VEHICLE.

UM, WE HAD, UM, AN AIRPLANE, UM, BUT THESE ARE OUR, OUR STUDENTS WITH THE INVESTMENT OF THE 4.8 MILLION, THE INVESTMENT OR OF OUR CURRICULUM.

AND AS DR.

PEREIRA ALWAYS SAYS, THIS IS KIND OF OUR RETURN ON INSTRUCTION, THE ROI, UH, UH, UH, UH, RETURN ON INSTRUCTION OR ROI, THAT IS A WALKING TESTIMONY OF WHAT WAS ENVISIONED FOR OUR STUDENTS WITH STEM IS TREVOR JOHNSON.

HE GRADUATED IN 2007 FROM LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL, BUILT MANY PROGRAMS, BUILT, MANY PROJECTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM THOROUGHLY.

AND EVEN AS HE MATRICULATED TO COLLEGE TO PRAIRIE VIEW A AND M HE WAS ON A, A, UM, TRACK, I'M SORRY, ON A, UM, BAN.

I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT OUT SCHOLARSHIP.

UM, AND THE, HOWEVER, THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, HE WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING IN BAND.

HE'S GOING TO FOCUS ON HIS STUDY WITH, WITH HOPES OF BECOMING AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER.

YOU DO HAVE A SURPRISE MESSAGE FROM TREVOR AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.

AND IT WAS DURING MY TIME THERE, I REALLY REALIZED ENGINEERING RELATED, AND IT REALLY WAS ABLE TO WORK WITH MARSHALL PAST FOUR YEARS AWAY FROM GRADUATING

[00:40:03]

A FUNDAMENTAL PART.

AND I'LL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL.

THIS IS WHY WE DO IT.

THIS IS WHY THE DISTRICT STEPPED OUT.

AND THIS IS WHY THE DISTRICT STEPPED OUT, UH, AS A PIONEER WHEN THERE WEREN'T ANY OTHER MODELS OUT THERE, BUT THERE WAS A VISION AS TO WHAT WE WANTED OUR STUDENTS TO BE IN THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE WANTED THEM TO BE ABLE TO CHART FOR THEMSELVES.

TREVOR IS OUR WALKING TESTIMONY OF THAT VISION COMING ALIVE.

OH, SORRY.

OTHER EVIDENCE OF THAT VISION COMING ALIVE.

WE, WE HAD SOME, UM, SOME RESULTS THAT CAME EVEN A LITTLE QUICKER THAN WHAT WE SEE WITH TREVOR.

UM, WE BROKE THROUGH WHAT MANY WOULD WOULD, UH, WOULD THEY TRY TO PREDICT WHAT HAPPENS WITH STUDENTS WHO COME FROM, UM, A MEDIUM INCOME HOUSEHOLD OF ABOUT 52,000? UH, NO ONE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PREDICT THAT WE WOULD OUT, OUT PERFORM OUT SHY.

UH, SOME OF OUR NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS THAT, THAT HAVE, UM, UH, HIGHER SES.

WE HAD SOME UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES THAT WERE ALSO GOOD CONSEQUENCES THAT WERE A STEM IMPACT.

WE IMPACTED THE STEM, UH, NUMBERS NATIONALLY, UM, AND BROKE THROUGH WITH HAVING THEIR THERE'S LOTS OF RESEARCH AND TALK RIGHT NOW ABOUT WOMEN IN STEM AND HOW, UM, THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INCREASE IN.

SO LANCASTER CONTINUES TO MAKE AN IMPACT IN THAT AREA AS WELL.

UH, HERE JUST HIGHLIGHTING TWO OF OUR, OUR, UH, GRADUATES FROM WEST POINT FEMALE GRADUATES FROM WEST POINT.

AND AGAIN, WE LOOK TO INCREASE THOSE NUMBERS AS WELL, BY LIVING THROUGH THE VISION.

UM, EARLIER DR.

PERRERA TALKED ABOUT THE ROI, UM, BACK IN 2012 T I AND OTHER PARTNERS INVESTED $4.8 MILLION, EIGHT YEARS LATER, THAT RETURN ON INVESTMENT CAN BE SEEN HERE THROUGH OUR, OUR STUDENTS AND 2020 THAT COHORT OF STUDENTS, THEIR SCHOLARSHIPS, UH, EQUATED TO ABOUT $20 MILLION.

AS YOU CAN SEE, WE HAVE ATHLETICS, UM, ACADEMIC AND MILITARY BAND CHOIR, SAME REGARDLESS OF THE PANDEMIC.

UM, COVID WHOMEVER ELSE THAT MAY HAVE COME IN TO TRY TO, UH, CHANGE THE TRAJECTORY OF OUR STUDENTS, BECAUSE WE INVESTED YOU ALL INVESTED EARLY ON IN THEIR, UM, THEIR ROAD TO GRADUATION.

UH, THOSE NUMBERS STILL INCREASED IN 2021, UM, OVER $25 MILLION IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS, YOU CAN SEE THE ACADEMIC NUMBERS, THEIR ATHLETIC MILITARY, AND BAN.

UM, DR.

JACKSON WILL COME UP AND TALK TO US ABOUT THAT, UH, ABOUT, UH, OTHER WAYS THAT WE CAN INVEST IN OUR STUDENTS.

THANK YOU, DR.

BARKER.

I AM FILLED WITH ENERGY, EXCITEMENT, AND ENTHUSIASM ABOUT THE DOLLARS FOR COLLEGE PROGRAM.

THIS IS A PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES A SAVINGS ACCOUNT FOR OUR KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE STUDENTS WITH THE HOPES OF ACTUALLY THEN RAISING AS MUCH AS 50 TO $60,000.

BY THE TIME THEY ACTUALLY GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

I AM PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT EVEN IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC LAST YEAR, THEY WERE ABLE TO RAISE $64,000 THAT DESERVES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE.

PLEASE, OUR GOAL FOR THIS YEAR IS $75,000.

UM, A FEW FUNDRAISING IDEAS.

I'VE ACTUALLY HAD THE LUXURY OF MEETING WITH A FEW INDIVIDUALS AND A CUP OF FUND RAISING IDEAS OFF.

WE'RE GOING TO BEGIN THE KICK OFF AT THE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME WHERE WE HAVE A TENT SET UP.

UM, CURRENTLY, UH, T-SHIRTS ARE BEING ORDERED FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS TO SORTA PUMP THE ACTIVITY UP, UM, TO ENCOURAGE THE FAMILIES TO, UM, START THIS INVESTMENT.

AND WITH THESE INVESTORS HERE ON THE SCREEN, EVERY DOLLAR THAT IS ACTUALLY PLACED INTO THE STUDENT'S, UM, SAVINGS ACCOUNTS, THEY MATCH IT.

UM, ANOTHER FUNDRAISING IDEA, STAKEHOLDER DONATIONS.

UM, IF I WAS A PRINCIPAL AT A SCHOOL, I WOULD ACTUALLY HAVE EACH ONE OF MY CLASS ACTUALLY DONATE, UH, UM, GET WITH A WALMART OR WATER BURGER OR ONE OF THE STAKEHOLDERS IN THE COMMUNITY TO INVEST IN A PARTICULAR CLASSROOM.

UM, A GREAT IDEA ACTUALLY SURFACED TODAY WHERE EACH MEMBER OF LANCASTER INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ACTUALLY DONATE $1, UH, FROM EACH ONE OF THEIR PAY PERIODS TO INVEST IN OUR STUDENTS.

AND WHAT ABOUT SOME FRIENDLY COMPETITION?

[00:45:01]

UM, AT OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, UM, WHERE WE HAVE COMPETITIONS, UM, FOR THE TOP KINDERGARTEN CLASS WITHIN THE SCHOOL AND THE TOP KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE CLASS IN THE DISTRICT IN ORDER SOME PRIZES, UM, FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS ALSO, I MET WITH THE CEO OF UNITED WAY, AND WE ACTUALLY TRYING TO EXTEND THIS PROGRAM AND STARTED SEVENTH GRADE STARTED AT SEVENTH GRADE WHERE OUR STUDENTS ARE, WHO ARE CLOSER TO GRADUATING, ARE ABLE TO RAISE MONEY.

AND, UM, SO THEY CAN, UM, BE ALLOWED TO HAVE FUNDING FOR COLLEGE WHEN THEY GRADUATED AS WELL.

THIS IS CRITICAL, AND I'M SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY.

HERE IS SOME OF THE GROWTH OVER THE COUPLE OF YEARS, AS WE CAN SEE FROM 2018, OVER 300 STUDENTS, UM, THIS YEAR WE'VE ACTUALLY PLANNED TO ACTUALLY DOUBLE THAT PARTICULAR NUMBER FROM 2018, 2019, I'M SORRY, UH, TO ABOUT A HUNDRED STUDENTS, A HUNDRED BETWEEN 102 HUNDRED STUDENTS MORE.

AND OF COURSE HERE'S SOME ADDITIONAL STATISTICS THAT I ACTUALLY MENTIONED TO YOU ALL THAT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY RAISED LAST YEAR WAS $64,000.

AND OF COURSE THIS ONE ONLY HAS A TOTAL OF 55, BUT OF COURSE AN ADDITIONAL 9,000 WAS ADDED TO THAT AS WELL.

NEXT, WE WILL HAVE A DATA DIVE AND SOME FEEDBACK.

THANK YOU, DR.

JACKSON, AT THIS TIME, WE'LL, WE WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO ONTO THE PADLET.

AND AGAIN, THAT IS FOR EVERYONE IN THE ROOM, UH, TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS.

AND SO AS YOU GO ONTO YOUR PADLET, PLEASE SHARE YOUR IDEAS TO ENHANCE AND EXTEND THE DOLLS FOR COLLEGE PROGRAM.

YOU WILL HAVE TWO MINUTES TO ENTER YOUR FEEDBACK.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

AT THIS TIME, I WILL TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR DATA AND I WANT TO START OFF BY JUST SAYING THAT SINCE 2013, 100% OF OUR SCHOOLS MET STANDARD ON THE STATE ASSESSMENT.

AND I THINK THAT DESERVES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE SO I WILL TALK WITH YOU.

I WILL TALK THROUGH 20 17, 20 18 AND 2019 DATA.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS I WANT YOU TO LOOK CAREFULLY AT WITH ME AS, AS I WALKED THROUGH THIS HISTORICAL INFORMATION WITH YOU IS THAT BETWEEN THE YEARS 20 17, 20 18 AND 2019, OUR DISTRICT TRAJECTORY, WE WENT UP TWO TO THREE POINTS IN EACH SUBJECT AREA OVER THE, OVER ALL OF OUR COURSES AND GRADES.

AND SO AS YOU'RE LOOKING AT 2017 AND I'M MOVING TO 2018 DATA, YOU'LL SEE THAT WE'RE CONSTANTLY W WE'RE INCREASING IN SCORES.

AND AS WE GET TO 2019, YOU CAN SEE THAT, ESPECIALLY IN OUR MATH AND OUR SCIENCE AREAS, THAT WE WENT FROM THE MID SEVENTIES TO THE HIGH SEVENTIES AND ON INTO THE EIGHTIES.

AND SO OUR SCHOOL WAS, OUR DISTRICT WAS JUST, UH, INCREASING AGAIN, UH, CONSISTENTLY OVER THOSE YEARS.

AND I WANT TO MENTION THAT, AND I'M GOING TO COME BACK TO SOME THINGS IN A LITTLE BIT, UH, BUT RIGHT NOW I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR DR.

JACKSON TO TELL US ABOUT A FEW EDUCATIONAL ACRONYMS. AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO COME BACK AND CYCLE BACK TO OUR DATA AGAIN, IN A MOMENT.

THANK YOU.

THERE ARE LITERALLY A HUNDRED ACRONYMS AND EDUCATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL SETTING.

HOWEVER, THESE ARE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES SPECIFICALLY AS IT RELATES TO, UM, ACCOUNTABILITY AND SCORING,

[00:50:01]

UM, AS IT RELATES TO THE STATE LEVEL.

UM, AS YOU CAN SEE, I'LL GIVE YOU A FEW SECONDS AT THIS TIME, WE WILL HAVE THE PRESENTATION ON THE RESULTS DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY, WHERE MANY OF THESE ACRONYMS WILL ACTUALLY BE ADDRESSED.

GOOD EVENING BOARD MEMBERS, DR.

PERRERA TONIGHT, I PRESENT TO YOU RESULTS DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY OR RDA DATA OVER THE LAST FOUR YEARS FROM 20 17, 20 18, 19 AND 20, YOU MAY BE FAMILIAR WITH PERFORMANCE SPACE MONITORING ANALYSIS SYSTEM OR PB MAS, WHICH WAS CHANGED TO RESULTS-DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY AND THE TWIN IN THE 1920 SCHOOL YEAR RESULTS DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY IS A DATA DRIVEN FRAMEWORK WITH THE PURPOSE OF COLLECTING AND MONITORING DATA FOR EACH LOCAL EDUCATION AGENCY IN TEXAS, THE DRIVING PRINCIPLES OF RESULTS DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH LEA S A T A THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY, HAVING PARTNERSHIPS WITH LAS AND TRANSPARENCY FOR STAKEHOLDERS, WITH A FOCUS ON IMPROVED RESULTS.

THEY PROVIDE DIFFERENTIATED SUPPORTS TO LOCAL EDUCATION AGENCIES, AND, UM, HA ARE RESPONSIVE TO STUDENT NEEDS FOR THE 17TH FROM, FROM 2017 UNTIL, UH, 2024 AREAS WERE EVALUATED IN THE AREA OF RESULTS, DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY, BILINGUAL ESL, CTE, S A N A SPECIAL EDUCATION.

AND THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR A CTE WAS DROPPED AND MOVED TO ANOTHER AREA.

AND, UM, THE, THE ADDITION WAS OTHER SPECIAL POPULATIONS, WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY HOMELESS, MILITARY CONNECTED AND FOSTER CARE FOR EACH OF THOSE AREAS.

THERE ARE THREE BROAD AREAS THAT ARE EVALUATED.

THEY ARE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, POST-SECONDARY READINESS AND DISPROPORTIONATE ANALYSIS.

AND UNDER EACH OF THOSE BROAD AREAS, THERE ARE MANY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS.

SO FOR EACH ONE OF THOSE PERFORMANCE INDICATORS, THEY WOULD EARN AN A PERFORMANCE LEVEL OF CRO TO FOUR.

AND IF YOU CAN PICTURE A TARGET, THE BULL'S-EYE WOULD BE A CRO.

SO IF YOU MET THE TARGET OF THE DISTRICT, MET THE TARGET, THEY WOULD GET A ZERO.

THE NEXT RING OUT FROM THE TARGET WOULD BE A ONE, THE NEXT RING OUT A TWO.

AND SO THE HIGHER, THE NUMBER THE FUR INDICATES THE FURTHER AWAY FROM THE TARGET THE DISTRICT WAS.

SO IN THIS CHART RIGHT HERE, WHICH YOU'RE LOOKING AT IS THE MEAN, OR THE AVERAGE OF ALL OF THE PERFORMANCE LEVELS FOR EACH OF THOSE AREAS.

AND WHAT'S IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO NOTICE ABOUT THIS DATA IS THAT OVER THE YEARS AND ACROSS THE VARIOUS AREAS, THE DISTRICT HAS SHOWN IMPROVEMENTS EACH AND EVERY YEAR, WE ARE BEGINNING OUR RESULTS DRIVEN ACCOUNTABILITY SEASON.

WE ARE GOING OUR 21, 22, UH, DATA.

AND SO I LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING, SHARING WITH YOU OUR MOST CURRENT DATA WHEN WE RECEIVE IT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MS. BELL WILL COME UP AND TALK WITH YOU ABOUT SPED AND ELL DATA STAR DATA.

THANK YOU, MS. KANE, I WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT THE DATA IN FRONT OF YOU IS ACTUALLY OUR ALL STUDENT DATA, UH, COMPARED WITH OUR LAB AND ELL STUDENTS, UH, LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, UH, IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS ARE THOSE ACRONYMS AND THEN ALSO OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS.

AND SO AS YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIS DATA, THIS IS THE DATA FOR MEATS.

THIS IS THE DATA FOR MASTERS, AND YOU'LL ALSO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK CLOSER AT THIS DATA.

WHEN YOU GET, DO YOUR GALLERY WALK, I DO WANT TO JUST KIND OF WALK YOU THROUGH WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT.

SO IN FRONT OF YOU ON THE SCREEN, YOU'LL SEE A LITTLE SNIPPET OF THE MEET STATUS.

AND IN THIS INSTANCE, THIS IS ACTUALLY ENGLISH ELC, UH, AND OF COURSE, UH, ENGLISH ONE AT THE NINTH GRADE LEVEL, THAT'S, UH, REPRESENTED BY THE .

AND SO YOU'LL SEE 2018, 2019 AND 2021 INFORMATION IN FRONT OF YOU.

AND IF YOU'LL NOTICE THAT OUR STUDENTS, UH, FROM 2019 TO 2000 AND TO 2019 TO 2021, THERE WAS A 21 POINT INCREASE.

AND THEN ALSO, UH, OUR STUDENTS FROM, UH, OUR

[00:55:01]

S I'M SORRY, OUR LIP IN ELL STUDENTS FROM 2019 TO 2021 UNDER EAVE ONE, WHICH IS OUR ELC NINTH GRADE STUDENTS WENT FROM AN EIGHT TO 29, AND THAT'S A 21 POINT INCREASE OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION.

STUDENTS WENT FROM FIVE TO EIGHT, UH, FOR ENGLISH ONE, AND THAT'S A THREE POINT INCREASE.

AND THEN IF WE LOOK AT ENGLISH TWO, WE WENT FROM IN 2019 TO 2021, WE WENT FROM A 21 TO 16, WHICH IS A FIVE POINT DECREASE.

AND WE WENT FROM A NINE TO SEVEN, WHICH IS A TWO POINT DECREASE.

SO AS WE CONTINUE OUR DATA, OUR GALLERY WALK AGAIN, YOU WILL HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK AT THE DEMOGRAPHIC DATA.

SO IT IS FEEDBACK TIME.

SO AT THIS TIME, YOU'LL GO TO YOUR PADLET AGAIN.

AND FROM, FROM THE PRESENTATION, WHAT DID YOU LEARN AND WHAT DO YOU STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT? SO THIS TIME, IF EVERYONE IN THE ROOM WOULD GO TO THEIR PALLET, DR.

PEREZ, YES, I DO HAVE A ONE POINT OF CLARIFICATION.

IF YOU COULD CLARIFY FOR THE AUDIENCE AND ESPECIALLY OUR BOARD, UM, THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MEETS DATA AND AS WELL AS THE MASTERY, UH, AND WHY WE ARE LOOKING AT A MASTERY GOING FORWARD.

SO WHAT I WANT TO SAY IS WE HAVE ACTUALLY THREE TYPES OF DATA APPROACHES MEETS AND MASTERS, AND THE APPROACHES DATA, WHICH MEANS THAT THE STUDENT IS APPROACHING GRADE LEVEL.

THEY'RE REALLY NOT ON GRADE LEVEL.

AND THE MEESE DATA MEANS THAT THEY ARE ON GRADE LEVEL AND THE MASTERS DATA MEANS THAT THEY ARE, THEY HAVE SURPASSED A GREAT LEVEL.

SO AS A DISTRICT, IN ORDER FOR US TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE PULLING OUR DATA, WE ARE, WE ARE GOING TO FOCUS ON OUR MASTER LEVEL DAZ DATA TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE PULLING ALL OF OUR STUDENTS TO THAT LEVEL OF MASTERY.

AND SO YOU'LL HAVE TWO MINUTES AND THE TIMER STARTS NOW FOR YOUR PADLET APP, UH, OPPORTUNITY AGAIN, MAKE THAT ONE MINUTE.

I THINK WE'LL BE ONE MINUTE.

THANK YOU IN LINE WITH THE, AND KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING.

WE ACTUALLY HAVE A GALLERY WALK AT THIS TIME.

AND SO, AND THINKING ABOUT ALL OF OUR CURRICULUM PIECES AT THIS TIME, WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO WRITE DOWN, I WONDER, AND I NOTICE, AND YOU'LL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO STATION NUMBER FOUR AND POST YOUR STICKIES.

SO AGAIN, THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYONE IN THE ROOM TO PARTICIPATE.

STATION FOUR IS OUTSIDE OVER TO YOUR LEFT NEXT, NEXT TO THE REST NEXT TO THE MEN'S RESTROOM AREA.

DR.

PERRERA, THANK YOU, MS. BELL.

AND AS I LOOK OUT AT THE, I WONDERS AND I NOTICED FROM THE PREVIOUS CATEGORIES, I KNOW WE HAVE MORE PEOPLE IN THIS ROOM THAN WE, THEN I SEE STICKIES UP ON THE WALLS.

AND SO AGAIN, I ENCOURAGE THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE IN THE AUDIENCE AS WELL, UM, TO ADD YOUR INPUT, YOUR INPUT INTO THE AREAS AS WELL.

SO AGAIN, WHAT YOU NOTICED AND WHAT YOU WONDER, UH, FOR CNI

[01:00:10]

THANK YOU.

WE GOTTA BE, WE GOTTA START BACK MAKING OUR WAY BACK TO, UH, BACK TO OUR SPOT SO THAT WE CAN GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED BACK WITH OUR HERE AND NOW SEGMENT.

AND

[01:05:01]

I CAN JUST TELL YOU IS EVERYONE, EVERYONE IS MAKING THEIR WAY BACK TO THEIR SEATS.

I HEARD A LOT OF COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS GOING ON OUTSIDE, OUT JUST RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE BOARDROOM, UM, WITH LOTS OF ENGAGEMENT.

SO WOULD I HEAR IT NOW? WE WANT TO TALK THROUGH OUR 20, 21 DATA.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE, IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE GRAY BARS THAT ARE REPRESENTING THE 20, 21 DATA, WE, WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO GUYS.

WE HAVE A LOT, A LOT OF CHALLENGES IN FRONT OF US, BUT CERTAINLY WE ARE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE.

AND SO I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT TO YOU IN THINKING THROUGH THE LENS OF HISTORICALLY WHERE WE WERE AND HERE AND HERE WE ARE NOW, AND WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE NOW, ESSENTIALLY IN THE PAST, WE REALLY, WE REALLY ACHIEVED HIGH IN OUR, IN AREAS OF MATH AND SCIENCE.

WE REALLY DID EXTREMELY WELL IN THOSE AREAS.

AND SO NOW WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IN 2021 IS THE MERE OPPOSITE.

SO WITH THIS DATA, UH, THERE, THERE WERE SOME, UH, DEEP DIVES WITH OUR MATH AND WITH OUR SCIENCE AREAS.

AND I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT OUR ASSESSMENT COUNTS WERE A LOT DIFFERENT.

SO, UH, IN THE BUILDING IN 2019, WE HAD 4,112 STUDENTS WHO TOOK THE MATH TEST, UH, OVER SUBJECTS, SUBJECT AREAS AND GRADES FOR MATH.

UH, BUT IN 2021, WE HAD 2,968 STUDENTS WHO TESTED.

SO, UH, IF YOU LOOK AT OUR READING AND WRITING SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES, THE SAME THING AS INDICATED THERE, WE HAD A MUCH, FEW, MANY, UH, MANY OF OUR STUDENTS WERE NOT PRESENT, UM, UH, TO TAKE THE TEST.

I ALSO TA D REQUIRE THE STUDENTS TO ATTEND IN PERSON IN ORDER TO TAKE THE ASSESSMENTS.

AND SO I JUST WANTED TO PRESENT THAT DATA BECAUSE OUR DENOMINATOR WAS CERTAINLY DIFFERENT.

THIS LIE WITH 2019 VERSUS 2021 STAR COMPARISON, THIS REALLY JUST SHOWS YOU THE DIFFERENCE OF THE PERCENTAGE CHANGE IN ALL OF THE TESTED AREAS ACROSS THE BOARD.

AND WE HAVE IS DATA PRESENTED TO YOU, UH, ALL OF THE DATA FOR ALL SUBJECTS.

UH, AND THEN ALSO IN ALL OF ALL OF THE AREAS, UH, WITH APPROACHES ME SAYING MASTERS, UH, FOR YOU.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS I WANTED TO POINT OUT IS THAT OUR GREATEST AREA OF IMPACTS ARE MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND READING IN THAT ORDER.

SO THIS TIME I WANT TO PASS THE MIC TO DR.

PEREZ.

YEAH.

THANK YOU, MS. BELL.

UM, OF COURSE, YOU KNOW, PRIOR TO THE, THE, THE REFLECTION PERIOD, UH, WE'RE SITTING HIGH ON THE HOG, IF YOU WILL.

UM, IF I CAN SAY, OR SHARE THAT INFORMATION REGARDING LOOKING AT OUR DATA AND WHERE WE'VE BEEN, UM, AND THE STARK REALITY OF WHERE WE ARE AT THIS MOMENT, AGAIN, NOT POINTING FINGERS, NOT ONE MORNING TO MAKE EXCUSES BY ANY MEANS, BUT WE DO HAVE SOME WORK TO, TO DO, UM, AS A DISTRICT, UH, COVID HAS IMPACTED US, UH, OVER A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO.

UM, WE WERE ALL OFF OF OUR MARK OF WHERE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE, UM, AND THEN COME ASSESSMENT TIME, BUT PLEASE KNOW THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE MORE THAN JUST A NUMBER THEY'RE MORE THAN A DATA POINT ON A PAGE.

UH, THEY ARE SOMEONE'S CHILD, THEY ARE SOMEONE'S SIBLING.

THEY ARE FUTURE, UH, COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND LEADERS, UH, IN, IN THIS COMMUNITY.

UM, AND WE WANT ALL OF THEM TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

AND SO I ASKED THE QUESTION EARLIER ABOUT IMAGINING ABOUT KINDERGARTNERS, BUT I ACTUALLY WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND THAT BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT WE HAVE TO BE HERE FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS, NOT JUST ONE GRADE LEVEL OR ONE CONTENT AREA.

SO I WOULD ASK THE QUESTION AGAIN AND SAY, ASK, IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD WOULD BE LIKE IF EVERY ONE OF OUR STUDENTS GRADUATED OR WENT THROUGH OUR K-12 MATRICULATED THROUGH OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM, K-12 WERE PRE-K 12 WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND SUCCESS SKILLS, UM, AND THE POWERFUL SELF-ESTEEM, UM, NEEDED TO STAND TALL AND TO STAND UNAFFECTED OR IMPERVIOUS TO DISCRIMINATION OR ANY OTHER LEVELS OF, UH, MS. MISFORTUNES, UH, IMAGINE HOW THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CHANGE OUR COMMUNITY, UM, CHANGE OUR STATE AND OUR NATION.

SO FORGET ABOUT THE ASSESSMENT PIECES, BUT KNOWING THAT WHAT OUR STUDENTS NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE ITSELF, UM, NOT EVERYONE WILL GO TO COLLEGE, BUT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO COLLEGE AND BE PREPARED.

NOT EVERYONE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE MILITARY, BUT EVERYONE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO NOT EVERYONE WILL PARTICIPATE IN, UH, A, UH, OPPORTUNITY TO GO INTO A CERTIFIED FIELD.

HOWEVER, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WHETHER THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY.

SO AGAIN, I ASKED YOU TO IMAGINE, WHAT WOULD THAT TAKE?

[01:10:01]

AND FOR ME, I KNOW THIS, THAT THE DATA WE WERE LOOKING AT AND THAT WE JUST SAW REGARDING WHERE WE ARE, WE HAVE TO STEP UP, WE HAVE TO RAISE OUR ROAR.

AND BY THE MEANS OF THAT MEANS THAT WE ALL HAVE TO DO SOME THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY, AND YES, IT WERE, THE NUMBERS DID NOT REPRESENT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS.

HOWEVER, IT'S A GOOD SAMPLE SIZE OF WHAT'S TO COME.

AND WHAT WE, OUR STAFF IS FACING THIS YEAR AS OUR STUDENTS ENTER EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR BUILDINGS.

UM, AND SO AS I VISION STATES, IT DOESN'T SAY SOME STUDENTS, IT SAYS EVERY S EVERY STUDENT, A GRADUATE THAT SUCCESS, EVERY GRADUATE, A SUCCESS, AND OUR MISSION TALKS ABOUT EMPOWERING ALL.

AND SO WE CAN'T, UH, SECTION OFF JUST THOSE WHO WERE TEST TAKERS LAST YEAR, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT'S JUST ONE POINT IN TIME.

UM, AND WE HAVE TO RAISE OUR WAR.

WE HAVE TO STEP UP TO THE FACT THAT, UM, OUR KIDS DESERVE BETTER AND WE CAN DO BETTER AS WE SAW IN OUR DATA.

WE'VE BEEN THERE.

UM, AND WE CAN GET THERE AGAIN, AS A MATTER OF FACT, I ACTUALLY THINK WE HAVE A LOT TO BUILD UPON, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT THINGS IN THIS DISTRICT.

AND MOVING FORWARD, WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO RAISE OUR ROAR AND RAISE THE BAR SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO ALLOW OUR STUDENTS TO ACHIEVED GREAT SUCCESS.

AND SO WITH THAT, I'LL TURN IT BACK OVER TO A, UM, I THINK IT'S ANOTHER TIME REFLECTION TIME.

YES.

SO GUYS IS FEEDBACK TIME AGAIN.

AND SO THIS TIME WE WANT YOU TO GO BACK TO THE PADLET AND WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT RAZOR ROAR.

AND SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU NOW THAT YOU'VE SEEN THE PRESENTATION AND HEARD ABOUT RAZOR WAR? SO LET'S GO TO THE PADLET AND YOU'LL HAVE ONE MINUTE TO ENTER YOUR COMMENT.

THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING, TRUSTEES.

WE'RE NOW TAKING A LOOK AT OUR DISCIPLINE DATA FROM 2017 THROUGH 2021.

OUR GOAL HAS BEEN TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF OUR OUT OF SCHOOL IN SCHOOL AND DAP PLACEMENTS.

WE HAD A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN THE 20, 20 AND 2021 SCHOOL YEAR BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC AND THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS RECEIVING IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION.

WELL, ONE OF THE SILVER LININGS OF COVID IT'S THAT WE, YOU KNOW, DEALT WITH VERY LITTLE BUSINESS.

YES, THE PANDEMIC PARK IS MISREAD AND SAYS, YES, OUR GOAL IS TO CONTINUE TO PUT PROACTIVE MEASURES THAT SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS WITH SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL STRATEGIES SO THAT WE CAN HELP OUR STUDENTS AND OUR STAFF HANDLED TRAUMA.

AND THE DAY TO DAY CHALLENGES THAT THEY MAY FACE, ESPECIALLY AFTER OUR COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

SO THIS YEAR IS OUR THIRD YEAR TO IMPLEMENT, MOVE THIS WORLD IN OUR PRE-K THROUGH 12 CLASSROOMS. AND WE'RE REALLY WORKING TO REINFORCE A COMMON LANGUAGE ACROSS THE DISTRICT FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS.

AND WE HAVE A BRIEF VIDEO TO SHOW YOU IT'S TIME TO PRACTICE.

OUR 10 IMAGERS EMOJIS ARE WHAT WE USE TO MANAGE OUR EMOTIONS.

10 .

IT'S JUST LIKE THE REGULAR ABCS, EXCEPT WE USE A MOTION AND MOVEMENT C C, D.

NOW WE'RE GOING TO SEE THE WORD AND

[01:15:01]

DO THE MOVEMENT.

IT'S JUST A BRIEF LOOK AT THE, UH, PROGRAM THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE DOING EVERY DAY, EVERY MORNING, AND REALLY THINK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS, THEIR EMOTIONS, AND CREATING STRATEGIES TO HELP THEM TO MANEUVER THROUGH TRICKY SITUATIONS.

ALSO, OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS, WE HAVE ADDED THREE SEL COUNSELORS TO SUPPORT ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES.

WE'VE ALSO PARTNERED WITH CHILDREN'S HEALTH TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR TELEHEALTH OR VIRTUAL THERAPY ON OUR CAMPUSES THAT, UH, THAT WILL ASSIST FAMILIES THAT MIGHT BENEFIT FROM THAT SERVICE.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE SIX CAMPUSES THAT HAVE VIRTUAL THERAPY, JD HALL, BELTLINE LAKE HIGHLANDS, HIGH SCHOOL, LIKE LAKE HIGHLAND, LAKE HIGHLANDS, LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL BAMMO AND WESTERN, AND NOW COACH HUMPHREY.

SO AS COACH HUMPHREY PREPARES, UM, JUST WANTING TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE FACT THAT, YOU KNOW, THE, THE, THE CONTENT AREAS ARE, ARE VERY KEY AND IMPORTANT FOR OUR STUDENTS, BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THAT, UM, THAT CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ARE ALSO THINGS THAT HELP US, UM, AND HELP OUR STUDENTS SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, BUT ALSO ENSURE THAT THEY'RE IN SCHOOL LEARNING EVERY DAY.

UM, I MIGHT BE WRONG FOR SAYING THIS.

MAYBE TRUSTEE JONES NOT GETS UP TO COME TO SCHOOL FOR MATH EVERY DAY, BUT I CAN GUARANTEE YOU THEY GET UP OR CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR SURE.

THANK YOU, DOCTOR.

GOOD EVENING.

GOOD EVENING.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES,

[01:20:01]

DR.

PERRERA CHARGED US WITH THINKING ABOUT WHERE WE'VE BEEN, WHERE WE ARE NOW AND WHERE WE'RE GOING IN.

THE FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT, LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL, SOPHOMORE BOSTON CUMMINS WON THE REGIONAL SMU AUGUST WILSON CONTEST AND WAS HEADED TO COMPETE NATIONALLY AGAINST 16 OTHER FINALISTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

THE WINNER WAS TO MEET DENZEL WASHINGTON, FELICIA RASHAD, AND OTHER ACTORS RECEIVED SCOTT, UH, COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND CASH AWARDS, BUT COVID HAPPENED.

OUR BAND PROGRAM ATTRACTS COLLEGE RECRUITS AND HAS BEEN OFFERED OVER $300,000 IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS.

OUR CHOIR PROGRAM HAS WON SWEEPSTAKES AT UIL, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST SCORE THAT YOU CAN EARN AFTER BEING TESTED TO READ MUSIC IN A MATTER OF A VERY FEW SHORT MINUTES AND PERFORM A PIECE IN FRONT OF A PANEL OF JUDGES WITHOUT THEIR DIRECTORS HELP, WHICH MANY SCHOOLS HAVE NOT ACCOMPLISHED IN 2019, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL ART STUDENT WON THE NATIONAL DOODLE FOR GOOGLE CONTEST.

AND I WOULD DRILL TEAM RANKS THE HIGHEST AMONG OTHER DANCE TEAMS CONSISTENTLY AT THEIR SAN ANTONIO SUMMER CAMPS.

WHAT WE KNOW IS THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL STUDIES THAT PROVIDE TRANSPARENCY IN REGARDS TO THE EXIGENT BENEFITS OF ARTS EDUCATION, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO AN INCREASE IN ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, BETTER LIFE SKILLS, AND A DECREASE IN SCHOOL, DISCIPLINE INFRACTIONS, STUDENTS, STATISTICALLY PERFORM 20% HIGHER ON TESTING.

AND IN ALL THE AREAS AFOREMENTIONED WHERE WE ARE NOW IS IMPACTING ALL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN ART AND MUSIC.

THE STATE IS RECOMMENDING THEATER ON THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL, WHICH WE ARE OFFERING AT WEST MAIN ELEMENTARY.

WE HAVE A PIPELINE FOR VISUAL ART MUSIC DANCE, WHICH IS RARE CHOIR THAT EXTENDS THROUGH THE SECONDARY LEVELS TO OUR STUDENTS.

UH, SENIOR YEAR HAVE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HIGHLY CAPABLE INSTRUCTORS WHO HAVE A WILLINGNESS TO TRY NEW INITIATIVES AND TO FACILITATE EXCELLENT PREPAREDNESS OF OUR STUDENTS.

OUR FINE ARTS STAFF HAS A WANT FOR GROWTH AND FUNDING THAT WILL PROPEL THEIR STUDENTS TO BE A COMPETITIVE FORCE NATIONALLY, NOT JUST LOCALLY.

WHEN I SET GOALS AND PLAN FOR WHERE WE'RE GOING, I'M ADDRESSING GROWTH AS RELATED TO INCREASING STAFF SPECIALIZED SPACES FOR OUR PROGRAMS, FUNDING, VISIBILITY, SUSTAINABLE PROCESSES, LIKE SCHEDULING CLASSES, FOR EXAMPLE, AND PARENTS SUPPORT IN THE FORM OF PARENT GUILT AND A FINE ARTS ADVISORY.

SO FOSTER COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL INVESTMENT.

SO BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THE ARTS ENHANCES THE PROCESS OF LEARNING.

THE FINE ARTS ALSO PROVIDES LEARNERS WITH NON-ACADEMIC BENEFITS, SUCH AS PROMOTING SELF-ESTEEM MOTIVATION, AESTHETIC AWARENESS, CULTURAL EXPOSURE, CREATIVITY, IMPROVED EMOTIONAL EXPRESSION, AND A WELL SOCIAL HARMONY AND APPRECIATION OF DIVERSITY.

THIS IS WHY WE ADVOCATE FOR THE ARTS AND TEACHING TO OUR DIVERSE LEARNERS.

OUR STUDENTS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE CHALLENGED IN CREATIVE THOUGHT PROCESSES AND TO BE PROUD OF THEMSELVES IN THEIR ARTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

LANCASTER ISD STUDENTS ARE READY TO RAISE THEIR ROAR IN THE FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT.

THANK YOU, DR.

BILL, THIS HAS BEEN, THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

YOU, UH, EXCELLENT JOB AND COMMENTS REGARDING OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAM, AS WELL AS OUR ATHLETIC PROGRAMS. AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THAT IS A GREAT SEGUE TO WHAT I'M ABOUT TO TALK ABOUT, WHICH IS OUR CCM DATA OR A COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY READINESS DATA.

AND SO THIS IS THE WHY, AND THESE ARE THE RESULTS.

THAT WAS THE WHY.

AND THESE ARE THE RESULTS OF THAT.

THE RETURN ON, ON INSTRUCTION AS DR.

PERRERA.

SO, SO NICELY PUT IT EARLIER.

SO IN 2019, WE HAD A 41 RAW SCORE, UH, ON OUR STAR WITH CCM, OUR, UH, WE HAD A 71, UH, INTO 2020, AND IN 2021, UH, WE ACTUALLY, THIS IS ACTUALLY A NUMBER THAT IS AN APPROXIMATION BECAUSE TAPER IS NOT COME OUT.

SO, SO FAR WE CAN SAY THAT POTENTIALLY WE WILL HAVE A 61.

WHAT I WANT TO UNDERSCORE WITH THAT

[01:25:01]

INFORMATION IS THAT ON THE STAR ASSESSMENT, THE VERY FIRST DOMAIN DOMAIN ONE IS BROKEN INTO THREE PARTS.

UH, 40% OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, 40% IS COLLEGE AND CAREER MILITARY READINESS.

AND THE OTHER 20% IS GRADUATION RATE.

AND WE ALWAYS, WE ALWAYS GET OUR 20% WITH THE GRADUATION RATE BECAUSE IF IT'S 95% OR HIGHER, WE ALWAYS GET THAT 20%.

SO WHAT I WILL TELL YOU IS WITH OUR, LET'S GO BACK TO 20 18, 19 TO 2019 DATA WITH THAT 41 RAW SCORE.

IF WE SCALE THAT UP, THAT WAS SCALED UP TO A 71.

AND THEN IF WE CONVERT THAT TO, UH, TO THE STAR TEST, THAT WOULD BE 28 PERCENTAGE POINTS OF THAT 40%.

AND ALSO IF WE'RE LOOKING AT OUR 20, 21 PROJECTION AT THIS TIME, UH, THAT W THAT 61, IF WE CONVERTED THAT IF WE SCALE THAT UP, IT WOULD BE A 90.

AND THAT 90 WOULD CONVERT ON THE STAR TEST TO 36 PERCENTAGE POINTS OF OUR 40%.

SO WE ARE DOING FAIRLY WELL WITH OUR CCNR DATA AT THIS TIME.

ALSO WANT TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION.

ALL OF THESE INDICATORS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT RIGHT NOW ARE THE CURRENCY CMR INDICATORS THAT, UH, WE ARE CURRENTLY CAPTURING DATA FOR IN OUR DISTRICT.

AND SO ONE OF THE THINGS I WANTED TO POINT OUT IS WHAT ARE INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS.

IF YOU'LL NOTICE IN 2019, WE HAD, UH, MERELY JUST 3% THERE, BUT WE INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY BY 15%.

UH, FROM 2019 TO 20, 20, 20 19 WAS ACTUALLY, UH, PRIMARILY MADE UP OF OUR, UM, OUR COSMETOLOGY STUDENTS.

THAT'S WHERE THOSE, UH, INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATIONS CAME FROM.

BUT THEN WE ROLLED INTO 2020 AND WE ADDED A NUMBER OF INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATIONS AND RIGHT, PULLING US TO 18%.

I WILL TELL YOU, UM, 29TH, 2020, UH, WE PROBABLY RANGE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 577 INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS.

AND WE'RE CLOSE TO 600, UH, UH, 600 INSTITUTE BASED CERTIFICATIONS AT THIS TIME.

AND SO WE'VE BEEN REALLY PUSHING THOSE NUMBERS.

ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT AND JUST CONGRATULATE OUR EARLY COLLEGE, UH, SENIORS AGAIN, UH, WE HAD, UH, 50 STUDENTS WHO ATTAINED A DEGREE, A COLLEGE DEGREE THIS YEAR.

AND SO THOSE POINTS ARE GOING TO ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO OUR CCR, UH, DATA.

UH, I DO NOT HAVE INFORMATION ON THE SLIDE AS IT IS INFORMATION THAT WILL BE COMING FORTH ON OUR TAPER.

AND SO I'LL BE ABLE TO SHARE MORE CONGRATULATORY INFORMATION AT THAT TIME WITH YOU REGARDING THAT DATA.

THE OTHER THING I WANT TO POINT OUT, WHICH IS, UM, UH, OUR MILITARY, WHICH IS ACTUALLY BEING REMOVED FROM THE CMR, UH, INDICATORS, UH, TABLE, BUT STUDENTS WILL STILL BE, HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIGN UP FOR MILITARY.

THE STATE WILL JUST A LONGER COUNT IT AS ONE OF OUR INDICATORS, BUT NOTICE NOTICEABLY FROM 2019 TO 2020, WE WENT FROM 3% TO 14% AND SO STRONG GAINS THERE OF 11%.

UH, ALSO FINALLY LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I WANNA POINT OUT THAT FROM 2019 TO 2020, WE HAD A 30 POINT ROSS SCORE INCREASE, WHICH I BELIEVE IS VERY VALUABLE AND HUGE AT THIS TIME.

DR.

JACKSON IS GOING TO TALK MORE WITH US ABOUT OUR CTE AND OUR CCM.

HOLD ON.

JACKSON IS MAKING HIS WAY TO THE FRONT AND JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT TO A BOARD AND AN AUDIENCE, UM, AT THE NEW OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE WILL BE OFFERING OUR STUDENTS.

UM, THIS YEAR, I THINK ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITIES ARE ALWAYS GREAT IN ALL KINDS OF FORMS. UM, BUT OFFERING STUDENTS A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT, UH, OPTIONS AS WELL WILL BE KEY.

AND THAT'S WHAT DR.

JACKSON WILL SHARE TODAY.

YES.

AND BEFORE YOU, AS YOU CAN SEE, IS THAT, UH, THOSE VARIETY OF PATHWAYS THAT DR.

PEREIRA IS ACTUALLY SPEAKING OF, UM, I'LL GIVE YOU A FEW SECONDS TO TAKE A LOOK AT, LOOK AT THOSE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH AND LIKE HER START INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS ONE OF THE TOP CTE PROGRAMS IN THE STATE, BUT ME BEING THE COMPETITOR THAT I AM NOW THAT I'M ON A TEAM, UM, I WANT US TO HAVE ONE OF THE TOP IN THE NATION.

I'M GREETED LIKE THAT.

I'M COMPETITIVE LIKE THAT.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO THAT? AND OUR JOB, OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND OUR DUTY IS TO PUT OUR KIDS ON A PATHWAY AT AN EARLY AGE.

HOW DO YOU DO THAT, DR.

JACKSON? AND THAT IS THE WAY YOU DO THAT IS TO HAVE OUR KIDS TO, UH, DISCOVER THEIR PASSION AT AN EARLY AGE.

HOW DO YOU DISCOVER YOUR PASSION? IN YEARS AND YEARS AGO, WE WERE ACCUSTOMED TO ASKING KIDS AND CHILDREN, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP? THAT'S A VERY DIFFICULT CHET, UM, QUESTION FOR A CHILD TO ACTUALLY ANSWER.

HOWEVER, IF YOU ASK THEM THEIR PASSION, THEN YOU CAN CONNECT

[01:30:01]

THAT PASSION TO THAT PURPOSE.

AND ONCE YOU HAVE THAT PASSION AND THAT PURPOSE, NOW WE HAVE A PATHWAY.

I HAD THE LUXURY OF EXPERIENCING THIS PROCESS THAT I JUST CONVEYED TO YOU AT BAMBOO ACADEMY LAST WEEK, WHERE I ACTUALLY ENTERED THE CLASSROOM FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE RECOVERING CREDITS, I ENCOUNTERED A MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS.

AND IF YOU EVER SEE ME, I'M ALWAYS TALKING TO A CHILD.

IF I'M AT THEIR SCHOOL, UH, THIS PARTICULAR, UM, STUDENT, UH, MALE AND FEMALE, WE BEGIN TALKING ABOUT, UM, THAT PASSION AND ONE HAD AN INTEREST IN, UM, DOING HAIR COSMETOLOGY, ONE ANOTHER, HAD AN INTEREST IN COOKING CULINARY.

UM, I HAD THEM HOOKED AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME, UM, BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD DO THAT FOR FREE BECAUSE THEY LOVED IT SO MUCH.

NOW I HAVE THEIR PURPOSE AND NOW I'M ABLE TO CONNECT THEM ON A PATHWAY, BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THERE ONCE YOU HAVE THAT PASSION AND THAT PURPOSE AND THAT PATHWAY.

NOW IT'S TIME TO CONNECT IT TO THE CONTENT.

AND THIS IS WHERE THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPALS REALLY COME IN AT AND WHERE YOU CAN TAKE THE STUDENTS TO ANOTHER LEVEL AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME WITH THOSE PARTICULAR STUDENTS.

UM, WE TOOK A TRIP IN ENGLISH CLASS, YES, AND CULINARY ARTS.

YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO READ THE INGREDIENTS IN MATH.

YOU CAN'T GET AWAY FROM THAT AS A COSMETOLOGIST, YOU HAVE TO, UM, KNOW THE MEASUREMENTS, HOW TO CUT HAIR.

WE TOOK A SOCIAL STUDY TRIP AS WELL, BECAUSE DEPENDING ON YOUR DEMOGRAPHICS, IF YOU GO TO SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA, YOU'RE GOING TO LIKE SOME GUMBO, BUT IN CALIFORNIA, THERE WAS NO SWEET TEA.

AND WE ALSO TOOK A TRIP IN SCIENCE, OH MAN, CHEMISTRY, PLETHORA OF THAT IN COSMETOLOGIST COSMETOLOGY, AND ACTUALLY IN CULINARY AS WELL, THE HEAT, THE TEXTURE OF FOOD.

SO WE ACTUALLY TOOK THAT TRIP AND DR.

PERRERA AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME, THE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THOSE PARTICULAR STUDENTS.

AND ONCE I HIT THAT PASSION, THAT PURPOSE, AND I ALIGNED IT WITH THEIR PATHWAY, NOT ONLY WERE THEY ABLE TO RAISE THEIR ROAR, BUT GUESS WHAT, THEY'RE GOING TO RAISE THEIR SCORE.

AND ONCE THEY RAISED THAT ROW AND THAT SCORE, GUESS WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT, THEY'RE GOING TO SOAR.

YOU ALL CAN WRITE THAT ONE DOWN.

I MEANT FOR IT TO RUN, BUT I GAVE YOU THAT EXAMPLE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THIS PROGRAM IS ACTUALLY FOR.

AND WE HAVE TO CATCH THEM AT AN EARLY AGE AFTER, AFTER THIRD GRADE, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR BOYS.

THAT'S IT.

AND IF YOU CAN, SHE MENTIONED ATHLETICS.

THERE'S TONS OF SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES INVOLVED IN THAT AS WELL.

IT'S THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SOUTHERN, UM, SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE AND THE PAC 12 CONFERENCE OF DEMOGRAPHICS.

NOW I'M TALKING SOCIAL STUDIES AND I'VE HOOKED THE FOOTBALL PLAYER.

SO WE HAVE TO MAKE THAT CONNECTION AT AN EARLY AGE AND HERE, UM, MY COLLEGE AND CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS PROGRAMS. THESE ARE SOME OF OUR PARTNERS IN EDUCATION.

AS YOU CAN SEE, SINCE 2019, WE'VE MADE SOME REMARKABLE GAINS, UM, IN REGARDS TO INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF STUDENTS AT THE EARLY COLLEGE, UH, MR. THORNHILL WAS DOING A PHENOMENAL JOB THERE.

UM, HE AND I SPOKE EXTENSIVELY, UM, AT DISMISSAL, UM, YESTERDAY.

AND, UM, I'M EXCITED, UM, ABOUT WHERE, UM, THE EARLY COLLEGE IS ACTUALLY GOING.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE, UM, THIS YEAR WE REMAINED STEADY AND OUR GOAL IS TO INCREASE IT WITH, UM, AGAIN, STARTING OUR STUDENTS AT A VERY, VERY EARLY AGE AND DR.

BARBARA AND I, WE SPOKE ABOUT A PLAN, UM, THAT WE ASKED, THEY'RE GOING TO BEGIN DISCUSSING, UM, VERY SOON.

THANK YOU.

AND NEXT UP, WE HAVE DR.

BARKER WITH OUR DISTRICT PARTNERS.

I'M GOING TO START CALLING DR.

JACKSON AN EVANGELIST OR MAYBE A RAPPER ONE OR THE OTHER.

UM, BUT HE REALLY HAD US HOOKED, UM, INTO THE STORY.

WE YOU'VE HEARD A LOT OF QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE DATA.

WE WANTED TO MIX IT UP, THAT IT WASN'T JUST NUMBERS, THAT YOU HAD A WAY TO TAKE THE NUMBERS AND CONNECT IT IN.

AND REMEMBER IT WITH SOME OF THE STORIES OF OUR STUDENTS.

UM, THIS IS JUST A, UH, JUST A SNAPSHOT OF A STORY OF OUR PARTNERS WHO HELPED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

A COUPLE BOARD MEETINGS BACK, WE HAD TOYOTA HERE.

UM, WE REALLY ENGAGE WITH THEM.

UM, THEY BROUGHT IN SOME OF THEIR PARTNERS TO, TO, UM, UH, TALK TO US ABOUT CURRICULUM, WORK WITH US ON CURRICULUM, UM, WORK WITH OUR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ABOUT THE TOYOTA REC, THE TOYOTA WAY, THE RACHEL RAY FOUNDATION.

THOSE ARE ALL TONGUE-TWISTERS FROM ME, UH, CADET, UM, DID SOME THINGS WITH US THIS SUMMER.

UH, T I, UH, STARTED AT ALL, AT LEAST THE PATH THAT WE'RE ON RIGHT NOW, AND, AND ALLSTATE HAS BEEN HELPING US, UH, WHEN IT COMES TO FAMILY, WE ARE LOOKING TO INCREASE THOSE PARTNERSHIPS OF COURSE,

[01:35:01]

TO INCREASE OPPORTUNITIES WITH OUR, FOR OUR STUDENTS.

UM, WE HAVE A UNIQUE, UH, UH, UNIVERSITY PARTNER THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT DIFFERENT OPTIONS AGAIN, UH, TO BUILD THOSE PATHWAYS.

UM, WE'VE HEARD SOME, UH, SOME OF THE PURPOSES FROM A BAR FROM OUR STUDENTS AND, AND DOING THAT, UM, ALSO THROUGH OTHER, UH, ORGANIZATIONS, EVEN OUTSIDE OF THE DALLAS METRO METROPOLITAN AREA TO BRING RESOURCES HERE FOR OUR STUDENTS, HOPEFULLY ALL OF THOSE ONES WIELD, UM, THAT ARE JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEM AS WELL.

WE'LL SEGUE A LITTLE BIT TO, UM, INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY, BUT I, I WANTED TO, TO SHOW THIS, THIS WAS, WE WENT BACK AND FORTH ABOUT THIS VISUAL AS WE'VE BEEN LOOKING AT INSTRUCTION TO DO EVERYTHING THAT, THAT, UM, THAT DR. JACKSON TALKED ABOUT.

AND THEN ALSO TO MAKE THOSE NUMBERS AND THE PROMISES COME ALIVE, THAT, THAT WE WILL MOVE OUR STUDENTS FORWARD, THIS STARBUCKS, UH, VISUAL.

UM, WE WENT BACK AND FORTH WITH, AND OF COURSE THAT CAREER ONE, SHE SAID, THIS ONE WAS HER, HER FAVORITE TO TALK ABOUT SAMMER, BUT THIS REALLY SHOWS THE JOURNEY OF WHEN WE BECAME ONE-TO-ONE.

SO IF YOU THINK ABOUT WAY BACK IN MARCH, SEE, SO FAR, MARCH 20, 20, SO FAR AWAY WHEN WE HAD THE SHUTDOWN WITH COVID, UM, THERE WAS ALWAYS, UH, A, A, A VISION THAT THIS DISTRICT WOULD BE A ONE-TO-ONE DISTRICT WHERE EVERY STUDENT HAD ACCESS TO THEIR OWN PERSONAL DEVICE.

SO A PANDEMIC PERK AS MS. RIDDICK HAS US ALL SET, UM, UH, A PANDEMIC PERK WAS THAT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS THAT WE DID, WE WERE TRULY ABLE TO ACCELERATE OUR PATH TO BECOME A ONE-TO-ONE DISTRICT.

WE LOOK AT THE S OF SUBSTITUTION WHEN WE FIRST GOT THOSE DEVICES BACK IN MARCH, 2020, AND THIS WASN'T JUST IN LANCASTER, THIS WAS NATIONALLY.

WE LOOKED AT THAT COMPUTER AS KIND OF A SUBSTITUTION FOR INSTRUCTION.

IT'S JUST ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE KIND OF HAD.

IT WAS A MODE TO DELIVER INSTRUCTION TO OUR STUDENTS.

WE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THE MOST EFFECTIVE IN GETTING IT DONE, BUT OUR STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO GET SOME INSTRUCTION IN THAT WAY.

UM, MOST OF US, WHEN WE WERE IN COLLEGE, WE WEREN'T, I TAUGHT, UM, TO USE A COMPUTER, UH, IN THE WAY THAT, THAT OUR INSTRUCTORS, OUR TEACHERS ARE ABLE TO DO IT TODAY.

RIGHT.

WE CAME BACK LAST YEAR.

WE STILL WERE NOT, UM, FULLY 100% OF OUR STUDENTS HERE.

WE HAD ABOUT, UH, WELL, AT FIRST, WHEN WE CAME BACK, NO ONE WAS HERE.

BUT WHEN, WHEN WE TRANSITIONED BACK, WE HAD ABOUT 25, 30% OF OUR STUDENTS.

AND WE WERE CUT IN THAT AGE.

WE KIND OF AUGMENTED INSTRUCTION.

WE HAD SOME FUNCTIONALITY WITH OUR COMPUTERS, BUT WE WERE STILL KIND OF FINDING OUR WAY FAST FORWARD TO NOW, WE'RE TRYING TO BE A BIT MORE INTENTIONAL.

WE HAVE SOME BLENDED LEARNING SPECIALISTS HERE.

THEY'VE BEEN WORKING WITH OUR TEACHERS ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT, OUR CURRICULUM COORDINATORS TO, UM, HELP US GET TO THE MODIFICATION, THE M UM, WHERE WE ARE REDESIGNING INSTRUCTION.

WE BROUGHT, UH, DR.

JACKSON ON, AND, AND IN OUR VERY FIRST MEETING, HE WAS LIKE, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? AND I SAID, INNOVATIVE TEACHING, AS WE, WE CAN DO CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION, AS WE'VE ALWAYS DONE AND NOTICED THAT WE CALL IT INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES, BECAUSE WE WANT TO LOOK AT CURRICULUM AS A TOOL AS WELL.

UM, JUST AS WE LOOK AT TECHNOLOGY IS A WAY TO DELIVER AN EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION.

WE HOPE TO GET TO THE R, WHICH IS REDEFINITION, UH, WHERE A TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS US THE CREATION OF NEW TASKS, NEW WAYS OF TEACHING, NEW WAYS OF LEARNING.

SO WITH THAT, I WILL TRANSITION THE SLIDES AND HAND OFF TO MS. BUTLER.

AND SHE'LL TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOME OF THE TOOLS THAT WE DO HAVE, AS WE TRY TO MAKE THIS TRAIN MOVE.

GOOD EVENING, BOARD TRUSTEES, SUPERINTENDENT DR.

PERRERA TODAY.

I WANT TO PLACE EMPHASIS ON HOW TECHNOLOGY AS IN FULL SUPPORT OF THE CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION.

FOR EXAMPLE, OUR TECHNOLOGY WORKS WITH OUR CTE PROGRAMS AND, UM, AREAS SUCH AS THE CYBER SECURITY, UH, COMPUTER PROGRAMMING NETWORK, UH, ACADEMY GRAPHICS, ARTS, BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, AND ENGINEERING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

WE'RE PRIVILEGED TO SUPPORT BOTH ACADEMIC AND CO-CURRICULAR EVENTS, SUCH AS THE BLACK HISTORY BOWL, THE HAIR, HISPANIC HERITAGE BALL, FOOTBALL GAMES, STEM NIGHT COLLEGE GO GET IT WEEK.

AND THE LIST GOES ON.

ADDITIONALLY, WE ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTING WITH LOCAL AND STATE ASSESSMENTS EACH YEAR, AND WE WORK CLOSELY WITH DISTRICT AND CAMPUS TEAMS TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL STAFF RECEIVE ASSISTANCE WITH SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE SUPPORT AS OUR DISTRICT'S INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY ENTITY.

IT IS OUR GOAL TO OUTFIT THE DISTRICT WITH THE MOST INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY, BEST

[01:40:01]

PRACTICES THAT EXIST AND ENHANCED CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION.

SO, YES, WE HAVE 7,300 DEVICES THAT ARE CIRCULATING IN THE DISTRICT, BUT OUR ROLE AS TECHNOLOGY LEADERS IS TO REACH ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS EVERY DAY AND SUPPORT.

THANK YOU.

AND I'LL HAND OFF TO MS. KIMBERLY SIMPSON.

THANK YOU, MS. BUTLER.

GOOD EVENING BOARD DR.

CARRERA.

UM, I DO WANT TO REMIND YOU ALL TO WRITE DOWN YOUR, I NOTICED, AND I WONDER FOR THE LAST PRESENTATION THAT WE'VE JUST HEARD AS WELL FOR THE FEW THAT WILL COME AFTER, AND WE'RE ALMOST TO THE END.

SO, UM, ALTHOUGH I'VE RECENTLY TRANSITIONED INTO THIS POSITION, UM, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO, OUR DISTRICT'S IMMEDIATE COMMUNICATION NEEDS REGARDING OUR PLAN TO OPERATE SCHOOL AMID COVID-19 SPECIFICALLY THIS MONTH, THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT HAS MANAGED THE CRISIS COMMUNICATION EFFORTS AS IT RELATES TO OPENING SCHOOL DURING A PANDEMIC ON AUGUST 13TH, WE OFFICIALLY RELEASED OUR OPERATIONS SAFE TIGER RETURN REOPENING PLAN COMMUNICATIONS FOR THIS PLAN INCLUDED DRAFTING OF THE ACTUAL REOPENING PLAN DISTRICT UPDATE LETTERS, VIDEO PRODUCTION, AND STRATEGIC PRINCIPAL COMMUNICATION.

SINCE THE LAUNCH OF OUR PLAN, WE'VE SENT OUT SEVERAL ITEMS OF COMMUNICATION, WHICH INCLUDED OUR THREE-STEP PROCESS, ENROLLMENT GRAPHIC, A BACK TO SCHOOL VIDEO MESSAGE FEATURING DR.

PERRERA AND OUR OFFICIAL STATEMENTS REGARDING OUR MASS MANDATE STATUS OF ALL WHICH WERE SENT VIA EMAIL WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA.

ADDITIONALLY, MY DEPARTMENT MANAGES THE EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION OF ACTIVE AND RECOVER CASES WITHIN OUR DISTRICT VIA EMAIL.

WE SEND OUT THIS INFORMATION TO ALL PARENTS AND EMPLOYEES OF IMPACTED CAMPUSES AND DEPARTMENTS.

ADDITIONALLY, WE UPDATE OUR COVID-19 DASHBOARD ON OUR WEBSITE, UM, TO REFLECT ACTIVE AND RECOVERED, UH, ACTIVE AND RECOVER CASES DAILY.

AND THAT INFORMATION IS UPDATED DAILY.

WE GET THE INFORMATION FROM OUR NURSE AND FROM DR.

GRAY TO ENSURE THAT THE ACCURATE INFORMATION IS OUT ABOUT THE EFFICACY WITHIN OUR DISTRICT.

NOW, OBVIOUSLY, UM, ONE MONTH AND I THINK THREE DAYS NOW INTO THE JOB, HOWEVER, UM, I DO HAVE A PLAN TO ENHANCE OUR COMMUNICATION EFFORTS WITHIN LANCASTER ISD.

MY DEPARTMENT GOALS ARE AS FOLLOWS.

I WANT TO DEVELOP A CLEAR AND CONSISTENT MESSAGE THAT DELIVERS, UM, OUR MESSAGE IN ONE CLEAR VOICE FOR LANCASTER IST.

I WANT TO CREATE AND DISTRIBUTE MARKETING MATERIALS THAT EMPHASIZE LIKE STRATEGIES, CORE VALUES, UM, AND THE UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES OF EACH SCHOOL AND DEPARTMENT.

I WANT TO ENGAGE OUR STAKEHOLDERS TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENTS.

SO LANCASTER ISD, AND I WANT TO INCREASE THE POSITIVE PERCEPTION OF LIFE STRATEGY TO TRANSFORM THE IMAGE OF THE DISTRICT.

MOST RECENTLY, I HOPPED INTO THE NEXT DOOR APP.

IT'S BEEN REALLY FUN, BUT IT'S NECESSARY TO GO IN, UM, PUT THE INFORMATION THAT IS ACCURATE IN THERE.

AND, UM, HAVE THE CITIZENS KNOW THAT IT IS SOMEONE OUT THERE PROVIDING THAT ACCURATE INFORMATION DAILY SOMETIMES AT NIGHT, SOMETIMES IN THE MORNING, WHENEVER.

SO NOW AS A SCHOOL PR PROFESSIONAL, I KNOW THAT THE GOAL IS TO REACH, UM, SEVERAL PARENTS AND OUR STUDENTS AND A PLAN MUST BE IN PLACE IN ORDER TO DO THAT.

SO CURRENTLY I AM WORKING ON A STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS PLAN TO ALIGN WITH THE VISION OF THE BOARD, THE VISION OF DR.

PERRERA AND SIMULTANEOUSLY I'M WORKING ON, UM, ACTION ITEMS TO ADDRESS, UM, THE FOLLOWING THINGS IN MY DEPARTMENT.

SO WE'RE WORKING ON LAUNCHING A WEBSITE OVERHAUL, UM, AND ALSO A WEBSITE MOBILE APP TO BE ABLE TO, UM, ENHANCE OUR COMMUNICATION ACCESS THAT OUR PARENTS HAVE.

AND ALSO MAKING SURE THAT OUR WEBSITE IS ADA COMPLIANT.

WE'LL ALSO BE LAUNCHING A WEEKLY EMPLOYEE AND PARENT NEWSLETTER FOR CONSISTENT DISTRICT COMMUNICATION.

WE'LL BE TARGETING.

UM, WE'LL HAVE A TARGETED EFFORT TO INCREASE OUR SPANISH SPEAKING PARENT PARTICIPATION IN OUR CAMPUS EVENTS IN ORDER TO INCREASE PARENT ACTIVISTS AND RESPONSIVENESS, WE WILL ALSO BE WORKING TO STRATEGICALLY INCREASE OUR DISTRICT SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER I G AND YES, TIK TOK.

IT'S GOING TO BE FUN.

WE WILL ALSO BEGAN TO PRODUCE OUR OWN MEDIA OUTLETS TO HIGHLIGHT STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND THE INNER WORKINGS OF OUR DISTRICT.

MY PLAN IS TO INCLUDE, TO LAUNCH OUR OWN DISTRICT PODCAST.

I KNOW THAT, UM, TODD JONES, I KNOW YOU KIND OF, YOU, YOU TOLD ME ABOUT THIS, SO IT'S ALWAYS IN MY MIND, UM, A VIDEO SERIES, BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT IN ORDER FOR US TO TELL OUR STORY, WE CREATE OUR OWN STORY AND WE CREATE OUR OWN NARRATIVE.

UM, I'LL ALSO BE WORKING WITH CABINET TOO MUCH, SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING EFFORTS, UM, REALLY SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SUPPORT DISTRICT INITIATIVES, UM, AND ALSO WANT TO START UP A STUDENT MEDIA INTERN PROGRAM.

SO WHEN I WAS A TEACHER IN LANCASTER, I'VE TAUGHT AAV PRODUCTION.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT THROUGH THE CLASS.

I WAS ABLE

[01:45:01]

TO INTRODUCE MASS COMMUNICATION TO MY STUDENTS WHO OTHERWISE PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A CHANCE TO EVEN LEARN ABOUT THE INDUSTRY BECAUSE OF THAT CLASS.

SEVERAL OF MY STUDENTS ARE CURRENTLY IN THE BUSINESS.

UM, SOME OF THEM WERE WORKING IN LOS ANGELES, WAS CELEBRITIES.

THEY SEND ME TEXT MESSAGES ALL THE TIME, EVEN HAVE ONE THAT'S PRODUCING MUSIC FOR ERICA BAIDU RIGHT NOW.

SO MY GOAL IS TO KIND OF HELP BRING THAT CONNECTION BACK UP AND WHAT BETTER WAY TO DO THAT.

AND THEN TO HAVE INTERNS IN MY DEPARTMENT, UM, AS A HIGH FUNCTIONING TEAM, UM, WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE DOING IN COMMUNICATIONS AND THE SKILLS THAT THEY CAN LEARN BY INTERNING IN THE DEPARTMENT CAN ULTIMATELY PREPARE THEM FOR THE MEDIA INDUSTRY IF THEY SO CHOOSE TO GO FORTH AND BE A PART OF THAT.

SO IT'S OUR JOB TO PROVIDE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO OUR STUDENTS.

AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MAKING THAT HAPPEN.

THANK YOU GUYS.

NEXT.

YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR FROM OUR LIKE STRATA STATE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

GOOD EVENING.

SURE.

I SPLIT ISD POLICE DEPARTMENT ANSWERS A WIDE RAY AND VARIETY OF CALLS FOR SERVICE DAILY DURING THE 2021, EXCUSE ME, 20 20, 20 21 POLICE DEPARTMENT ANSWERED 451 CALLS FOR SERVICE.

UH, AND WE WERE EXPECTING OUR CALLS FOR SERVICE THIS YEAR TO INCREASE A LOT OF THAT'S GOING TO BE DUE TO THE, UH, JUST THE INCREASE IN TRAFFIC AND, AND STUDENTS, UH, DOING FULL IN-PERSON LEARNING, UH, SINCE JULY 1ST, ALREADY OF THIS YEAR.

AND THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE'VE ALREADY ANSWERED OVER A HUNDRED CALLS FOR SERVICE, UH, AND THEY USED, THEY'RE JUST ABOUT INCREASING DAILY.

UH, THE NUMBER OF POLICE REPORTS TAKEN LAST SCHOOL YEAR, UH, WAS EXTREMELY LOW THAN WE'VE HAD IN PREVIOUS SCHOOL YEARS.

UH, LAST YEAR, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TOOK 46 POLICE REPORTS GOING TO CONSIST OF OFFENSE, UH, ARREST, AND, UH, EXCUSE ME, ALL OFFENSE INCIDENTS AND ACCIDENT REPORTS.

UH, AND THAT'S COMPARED TO 158, UH, POLICE REPORTS DURING THE PREVIOUS SCHOOL YEAR AND 203 REPORTS THE PREVIOUS, THE YEAR BEFORE THAT AND 1819.

AND I EXPECT THE NUMBERS OF REPORTS THAT WE'LL TAKE THIS YEAR WILL INCREASE BACK PROBABLY A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE 1920 SCHOOL YEAR.

SURE.

OUR LEAD PROGRAM, UH, IS, IS SOMETHING NEW, UH, LEAD IS THE MOST RAPIDLY GROWING DRUG AND VIOLENT, UH, VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAM CURRENTLY IN THE UNITED STATES.

AND IT CURRENTLY HAS OVER 2,500 INSTRUCTORS NATIONWIDE, UH, THAT CONSISTS OF POLICE OFFICERS, TEACHERS, AND PREVENTION SPECIALISTS.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE THREE INSTRUCTORS HERE IN THE DISTRICT OFFICER, UH, COUNTRY DAVIS, OFFICER DENEDEN CARTER AND MR. HARRISON, UH, WHO ARE CURRENTLY OUR INSTRUCTORS, UH, LEAD IS A 10 WEEK PROGRAM THAT PROMOTES POSITIVE PROSOCIAL ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS WHILE FOSTERING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, UH, RESISTANCE TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND CONFLICT AND RESISTANCE TO NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE AND INFLUENCE THE LANCASTER ISD POLICE DEPARTMENT.

WE, WE BEGAN THIS PROGRAM, UH, USING THE LEAP PROGRAM, EXCUSE ME, LAST YEAR, DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER, UH, OVER AT ROSA PARKS ELEMENTARY WITH 25 STUDENTS, UH, FROM THE FIFTH GRADE, UH, IN-PERSON STUDENT, UH, THERE THIS YEAR, WE'RE EXPANDING THAT PROGRAM TO INCLUDE NOT ONLY ROSA PARKS, FIFTH GRADERS, BUT ALSO ROLLING HILLS, FIFTH GRADERS, UH, AND HOPING TO ULTIMATELY EXPAND THAT TO ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS.

UH, MATTER OF FACT, THURSDAY IS OUR FIRST DAY.

WE HAVE OUR FIRST, UH, CLASS WITH, UH, BOW AT BOTH SCHOOLS AND, UH, I'LL TURN IT OVER TO MS. BELL AND ACTUALLY THIS TIME, I JUST WANT TO THANK EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE AND ALSO ALL OF OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR, UH, YOU ALL HAVE BEEN A GREAT AUDIENCE, BUT I WANT IT TO, WE'RE ALMOST THERE AND I WANT TO TURN IT OVER TO DR.

BARKER, AND THEN SHE'S GOING TO HAND IT OFF TO DR.

PERRERA, BUT THANK YOU.

WE HAD OUR LAST FEW AREAS THAT, UM, WE ASKED YOU, MS. SIMPSON REMINDED YOU TO WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU'VE NOTICED AND WHAT YOU WONDER THAT WAS WITH THE POLICE COMMUNICATIONS.

AND CO-CURRICULAR.

SO IF WE COULD TAKE ABOUT FOUR MINUTES, ONE SONG, ONE SONG TO GO AND PLACE OUR NOTES.

UM, ALSO WE'LL FINISH OFF WITH THE FULL GALLERY WALK.

UM, IF WE HAVE A LITTLE TIME, YOU'LL SEE THAT WE'VE GONE THROUGH AND WE'VE ORDERED, WE'D LOOK FOR SOME PATTERNS.

IF THERE WERE SOME QUESTIONS THAT KIND OF HAD THE SAME TOPIC.

SO WE ORDERED THEM, KIND OF STUCK THEM TOGETHER, AT LEAST PUT THEM INTO A LINE.

UM, BUT WHAT WE'LL DO WITH THE END IS, UM, TAKE THIS INFORMATION BACK, SUMMARIZE IT ALL, AND USE THAT FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING.

UM, DR.

CARERRA TALK US THROUGH THAT.

SO IF WE COULD JUST GET ONE SONG FOUR MINUTES, WE WILL PLACE THOSE

[01:50:01]

THREE, UM, UH, OUR STICKY NOTES IN THOSE THREE AREAS.

AND THEN WE'LL COME BACK AND GET OUR CHARGE FROM OUR LEADER.

RIGHT? THIS WAS SO GOOD COMING OUT.

[01:55:34]

OKAY.

WE CAN HEAD BACK IN.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME IN AND SIT, BUT I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO COME IN AND LISTEN TO DIRECTIONS OF THE NEXT PART.

UH, IF YOU ARE A CHIEF, IF YOU CAN FIND YOUR, UM, AREA, YOUR STATION AND STAND BY YOUR STATION, WE'LL BE SENDING OUT GROUPS TO COME AND VIEW AND TALK TO YOU ABOUT WHAT'S ON YOUR STATION.

SO WE CAN GET THE CHIEFS TO GO AHEAD AND MOVE INTO POSITION.

YOU GOT MORE PEOPLE.

WE HAVE SIX STATIONS.

SO I AM GOING TO COUNT OFF GROUPS, SIX OR SEVEN, SEVEN STATIONS, 7 1 2 3 4 5 7.

YOU ARE THAT STUDENT? WAIT, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7 7 1 3 4 5 6 7 1.

OKAY.

SO DIRECTIONS FOR THIS PART, YOU HAVE YOUR HAND UP.

OKAY.

DIRECTIONS FOR THIS PART, WE TOOK IT OUT.

OKAY.

DIRECTIONS FOR THIS PART, UH, WITH YOUR GROUP, GO AROUND, WE'LL PUT TWO MINUTES FOR EACH STATION FOR EVERYBODY TO KIND OF REALLY LOOK, LOOK AT THE STICKY NOTES THAT ARE ON THERE, HAVE SOME DISCUSSIONS IN YOUR GROUP.

SOME GROUPS ONLY HAVE TWO, SOME MAY HAVE THREE, WHICH IS FINE.

UM, BUT WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO DO IS TO TAKE STICKY NOTES WITH YOU AND AS A, A DUO OR A TRIO KIND OF SUMMARIZE WHAT SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS ARE OR WHAT YOU NOTICE OR WHAT YOU WONDER WE DO HAVE, THERE WILL BE A CHIEF, UH, NEXT TO EACH ONE.

I'LL HAVE TO FIND DR.

TAYLOR.

AND IF YOU HAVE SOME SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, YOU CAN ASK THEM AT THAT TIME.

I DID NOTICE THAT SOME OF YOU HAD SOME QUESTIONS ON, ON THE STICKY NOTES THAT PROBABLY YOU CAN GET ANSWERS TO.

SO IN THE BACK WE HAVE FINANCE AND WE HAVE CAPITAL OUTLAY, UM, AND OUTSIDE CNI, UH, THE THREE CHIEFS I WORK WITH WHO ARE OUT THERE, UM, WE'LL FIND DR.

TAYLOR AND GET HER HERE IN THE FRONT.

CO-CURRICULAR IS ALSO OUTSIDE IN THE HALLWAY.

SO IF AT THIS TIME WE WILL, UH, CHANGE EVERY TWO MINUTES, BUT WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE SOME ROBUST DISCUSSION AND WE'LL GO CLOCKWISE.

SO WE'LL START, UH, IF YOU ARE A STATION, IF YOU ARE A NUMBER ONE, UM, YOU CAN START AT STATION ONE.

HOWEVER, YOU WILL ROTATE THIS WAY AND GO THIS WAY.

INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIND STATION TO STATION, ONE OF YOU CAN START WITH HUMAN CAPITAL VIEWER STATION TWO.

YOU ARE GOING TO BE WITH MS. PUMPHREY AND FINANCE STATION THREE IS CAPITAL OUTLAY.

MS. PUMPHREY.

I'M GOING TO ASK IF YOU CAN BRING YOURS, MAYBE DOWN HERE, DOWN THE RAMP THAT GIVES A LITTLE BIT, UM, MORE ROOM AND ALSO MOVES YOU AWAY FROM THE TRASHCAN OR BRING IT UP HERE.

PUMPHREY CAN BRING IT UP HERE.

NUMBER THREE, GROUP NUMBER THREE IS GOING TO GO OUT.

I'M HOLDING MY GLASS.

ME, MS. DAVIS, I PUT ON YOUR GLASSES.

YOUNG LADY, CAPITAL OUTLAY IS BACK WITH DR.

PRICE.

IF YOU'RE A NUMBER THREE, NUMBER FOUR.

YES.

NUMBER FOUR IS CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION THAT IS OUT IN THE HALLWAY.

NUMBER

[02:00:01]

FIVE IS CO-CURRICULAR WHICH YOU WILL SEE MS. UH, MS. LAWTON AND MS. HUMPHREYS OUT IN THE HALLWAY.

COMMUNICATIONS IS IN THE HALLWAY AS WELL.

UM, MS. SIMPSON IS OUT THERE, UH, WAITING AND THE POLICE ITEM NUMBER SEVEN IS OUT IN THE HALLWAY AS WELL.

AND SO IF WE COULD HAVE MUSIC FOR TWO MINUTES, AND THEN WHEN WE STOPPED FROM HEARING THE MUSIC, WE WILL ROTATE.

BUT WHILE IN YOUR GROUP BE ABLE TO, YOU ARE ABLE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS OF THE CHIEF, BUT ALSO COLLECT WHAT YOU NOTICE AND YOU WONDER TOGETHER AS A COLLECTIVE.

SO HERE WE GO.

TWO MINUTES.

IF WE CAN GO AHEAD AND ROTATE.

YEP.

WE'RE WAITING TO MOVE.

[02:05:15]

ALL RIGHT.

IT'S TIME TO MOVE.

LET'S MOVE.

LET'S MOVE.

LET'S MOVE.

LET'S MOVE.

LET'S MOVE.

LET'S MOVE.

.

HERE WE GO.

WRAP UP, WRAP UP, WRAP UP AND ROTATE.

IT'S TIME TO MOVE TO THE NEXT GROUP.

TIME TO MOVE.

[02:10:03]

START WRAPPING UP.

WE'RE ABOUT TO ROTATE TO OUR NEXT

[02:15:26]

ICE COLD.

MICHELLE PFEIFFER THAT WHITE COAT, THIS ONE'S FOR THEM STRAIGHT MASTERPIECE LIVING IN THE CITY.

HALLELUJAH.

HALLELUJAH.

PUMP.

DON'T GIVE IT TO YOU.

WAIT A MINUTE.

MISSISSIPPI DRAGON.

WE ON THE LAST ONE LAST .

[02:20:41]

I WONDER IF SHE COULD DO, OKAY.

LET'S WRAP UP CHIEFS.

IF YOU CAN COME UP FRONT, UH, WE'RE GONNA PASS THE MIC 30 SECONDS OF WHAT YOU HEARD.

UM, THERE WAS A QUESTION THAT I DID BRING UP, BRING BACK TO YOU CHIEF EARLY, UM, BUT 30 SECONDS OF WHAT YOU HEARD, UH, SUMMARIZING SOME OF THE DISCUSSIONS THAT HAPPEN, WHO WANTS TO GO FIRST? I CAN, YOU CAN VOLUNTEER OR GIVE VOLUNTOLD.

ALL RIGHT.

COMMUNICATIONS IS UP A LOT OF GREAT CONVERSATIONS, A LOT OF GREAT FEEDBACK.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WAS POINTED OUT WAS THE WEBSITE, AND WE'RE GOING TO FIX THAT.

I HEAR YOU, AND WE'RE WORKING ON IT.

ANOTHER THING IS ABOUT THE VISION THAT THEY HEARD AND THE GOALS.

EVERYONE IS REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

I WILL BE REACHING OUT TO YOU GUYS BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE TO COLLATERALLY WORK ON SOMETHINGS IN COMMUNICATIONS TO GET IT TO WHERE WE NEED TO GO.

SO I HEAR YOU, I'M WORKING AND IT'S GOING TO BE GREAT COACH HUMPHREY.

AND I WAS TOGETHER.

SO WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT EXPANDING OUR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, WHAT WE'VE HEARD, EXPANDING OUR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES DOWN TO THE ELEMENTARY GRADE LEVELS AS WELL.

AND THEN ALSO MAKING SURE THAT OUR FAMILIES WERE AWARE OF OUR COUNSELING SERVICES AND AS WELL AS OUR STUDENTS, THAT THEY TO KNOW THAT OUR SEL COUNSELORS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THEM AS WELL.

AND ALSO THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE, WELL, NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE, A FEW PEOPLE REALLY ENJOYED ATHLETICS, AND THEY FELT THAT, UH, PROGRAMS WERE PRETTY GOOD.

AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

AND I HOPE TO MAKE THEM BETTER.

YEAH.

YES, FOR FINE ARTS.

IT WAS ALONG THE SAME LINE.

SO, UM, I'VE HEARD PRINCIPALS, UM, TALK ABOUT CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AFTER SCHOOL, OUR FINE ARTS STAFF QUESTIONS, THE SAME THING.

SO WE HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT.

AND THAT IS A PART OF MY PLAN.

I GOT ONE MORE THING FOR THE GENTLEMAN THAT TALKED ABOUT, UM, OUR CROSS-COUNTRY AND OUR DISTANCE RUNNERS.

I HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE HELPING US OUT.

OKAY.

LEARN LOTS OF GOOD THINGS IN QUESTIONS ASKED ABOUT THE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS AND HOW TO GET THEM INSTALLED, ESPECIALLY BY SOME OF THE ADDITIONAL, UH, ELEMENTARY PRINCIPALS.

ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I WAS ASKED WAS ABOUT WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DARE AND LEAD.

A LEAD IS MORE DIRECTED TO NOT ONLY DRUG PREVENTION, BUT ALSO TO VIOLENCE AND BULLYING TYPE OF PREVENTION AND THOSE TYPE OF OTHER, UH, PREVENTION METHODS, UH, JUST THAT SOCIAL SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT COMPARED TO DARE IS MORE CIRCLED AROUND A DRUG.

AND THAT TYPE OF, UH, THAT TYPE OF AREA.

WE GOT A LOT OF POSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT OUR PLANS TO REPLACE THE HVAC SYSTEMS AND PEOPLE JUST WANT US TO GET IT DONE.

UH, THEY ALSO HAD COMMENTS ON, UH, HOW CAN WE HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THESE SCOREBOARDS OR ATHLETICS? I'M EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

AND WE ALSO HAD INQUIRIES ABOUT, UH, MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR TRANSPORTATION BUS SYSTEM.

UM, SO IN MY CORNER, WE TALKED ABOUT, UM, HOW TO EXPOSE THE STUDENTS TO MORE INNOVATIVE, UM, THINGS WITH TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS, UM, UH, WHAT DR.

PORTER CALLS WOULD CALL A DG FESTS, WHICH IS, UM, IN, UH, INCREASE IN, UH, STEM EXPO, UH, AND JUST, UM, EXPOSING THE STUDENTS TO DIFFERENT, UH, TECHNOLOGIES THAT ARE, UH, THAT ARE OUT HERE.

UH, AND THEN ALSO, UM, A MOBILE TECHMOBILE.

SO SOMETHING THAT WE CAN MOVE AROUND THE DISTRICT

[02:25:01]

AND EXPOSE THE STUDENTS TO MORE, UM, TECHNOLOGY.

OKAY.

YES.

FOR HUMAN CAPITAL, WE DISCUSSED FOR STUDENT ENROLLMENT, THAT WAS THE ACTUAL ENROLLMENT NUMBER VERSUS OUR WARM BODY COUNT.

UM, FOR HR SIDE, UH, EMPLOYEES, WE TALKED ABOUT EXIT SURVEYS, LOOKING AT THOSE AND THEMES, THEIR CULTURE AND CLIMATE SURVEYS, AS WELL AS RETAINING, UH, EMPLOYEES AND THEN RECRUITING, UH, METHODS THROUGH COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING.

THE LOW CURRICULUM CORNER OVER HERE WAS ACTUALLY FILLED WITH ENERGY, EXCITEMENT, AND ENTHUSIASM.

UM, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, HOPE WE WERE NOT INTIMIDATED.

THE LEADERS WERE NOT INTIMIDATED BY THAT ALL THAT RED.

AND THEN WE STARTED DISCUSSING HOW WE'RE GOING TO FIX IT, AND YOU NEED THAT HOPE, AND WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ONE ANOTHER ON HOW WE'RE GOING TO FIX IT.

AND ONCE YOU HAVE THOSE TWO, THAT'S WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENS AND I'M EXCITED AND I'M READY TO BEGIN WORKING WITH YOU GUYS.

UH, WE ALSO SAW OVER ON THE CNI SIDE, UH, INTEREST AND WANTING TO EXPAND COURSE OFFERINGS AND CTE PATHWAYS, UH, AS WELL AS AN INTEREST IN DATA REVIEWS, MORE DATA REVIEWS AND, UH, WAYS TO ADDRESS OUR STUDENT DATA, STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, AND, UH, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, UH, HOW CAN WE IMPROVE OUR ADVANCED ACADEMICS, ACADEMICS EVENING? UM, I HAD AN INTERESTING QUESTION, UH, COME UP THAT I HADN'T EVER THOUGHT ABOUT, BUT IT WAS HOW, UH, LANCASTER ISD BEING AN OPEN ENROLLMENT DISTRICT IMPACTED OUR FINANCES.

WAS THERE A BENEFIT TO IT? SO THAT IS NOT, UM, YOU KNOW, ANYTHING THAT I HAVE SEEN AS A TREND AS NEGATIVELY IMPACTING US, UH, FOR EVERY STUDENT WE GET IN THE SEAT THAT IS AT LEAST, UM, $6,100.

SO, YOU KNOW, WHETHER THEY'RE OUTSIDE OF LANCASTER OR IN LANCASTER, BUT I WILL KEEP MY EYE ON THAT AND, YOU KNOW, KIND OF SEE, BUT I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY NEGATIVE TRENDS RELATED TO THAT.

UM, ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW THE DISTRICT CAN GET BACK TO AN A AND SO, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, UH, THAT'S REALLY A FUNCTION OF OUR ENROLLMENT.

OUR ENROLLMENT HAS BEEN KIND OF FLAT, UH, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, AND THEN WE HAVE A FIXED AMOUNT OF DEBT.

UM, YOU KNOW, THAT WE DID BONDS TO BUILD A MIDDLE SCHOOL PLEASANT RUN WEST MAIN, UM, REMODELED BAMMO.

SO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THOSE THINGS.

AND SO AS OUR ENROLLMENT, UH, STAYS FLAT OR, YOU KNOW, DECREASES, YOU KNOW, THAT'S MORE DEBT PER STUDENT.

AND SO, UM, AS A RESULT, YOU KNOW, COVID AND DIFFERENT THINGS, OUR ENROLLMENT NUMBERS HAVE GONE DOWN, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE WITH ALL THE GREAT, UM, CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION PROGRAMMING AND BRANDING OF OUR STEM DISTRICT, WE WILL GET THE STUDENTS BACK INTO THE DISTRICT, UM, PROPERTY, UH, TEXT, UH, GROWTH WE'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THAT THAT'S KEPT BY THE STATE.

AND SO WE'VE BEEN, UH, BEING VERY CONSCIENTIOUS IN THAT IN TRYING TO LOWER THE TAX RATE, YOU KNOW, FOR THE CITIZENS OF LANCASTER.

SO IF YOU GO BACK AND LOOK AT THAT FOUR YEARS IN A ROW, WE'VE LOWERED OUR TAX RATE AT THE SAME TIME, WE'RE BALANCING THAT WITH MAKING SURE OUR STAFF GETS PAID.

SO, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A NEW TEACHER ALLOTMENT COMING ALONG AS WELL AS YOU KNOW, WE'RE HOPING THE BOARD WILL APPROVE A RAISES FOR STAFF.

AND AS FAR AS ROI ON INSTRUCTION, I DON'T KNOW.

THERE'S ANY DEPARTMENT THAT HAVE COME AND ASKED FOR MONEY OR SOMETHING THAT THEY REALLY NEED THAT THEY DIDN'T GET.

SO WE DO MAKE IT A POINT TO, UH, TRY TO MEET YOUR NEEDS AND MEET THEM WITHIN REASON WITHIN LEGAL PROCUREMENT GUIDELINES.

AND SO, ANY OTHER QUESTIONS THE BOARD, UH, THINK, UH, WE'LL BE DOING WORKSHOPS TO CLARIFY SOME OF THE REPORTING AND HOW SOME OF THE NUMBERS COME TOGETHER, BUT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SCHOOL YEAR.

SO AS YOU CAN SEE, DR.

PERRERA, UH, BOARD MEMBERS, WE DO HAVE A GROUP THAT LOOKS AT PROBLEMS AS OPPORTUNITIES.

SO EVERYTHING THAT I HEARD HERE AND THE SUMMARY OF EVERYTHING THAT I HEARD HERE, UH, THE FEEDBACK THAT WAS GIVEN FROM THE PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE, WE WERE ALL SOLUTION ORIENTED, LOOKING AT IT, UH, AND LOOKING FORWARD OF WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER AS A COLLECTIVE TO MAKE, UH, LANCASTER THE BEST THAT IT COULD BE.

SO THANK YOU ALL HAVE A SEAT, DR.

PERRERA.

UM, BEFORE YOU CLOSE US OUT, UH, MR. JONES, I THINK YOU HAD A COMMENT THAT YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE, AND WE'D ALSO OPEN IT UP TO ANY OF THE OTHER BOARD MEMBERS WHO MAY WANT TO MAKE A COMMENT.

NO PRESSURE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO, BUT I KNOW WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE OPEN TO OTHER BOARD MEMBERS IN DOWN AND ALLOW A TRUSTEE JONES TO CLOSE OUT THE BOARD COMMENTS, AND THEN I'LL CLOSE OUT.

OKAY.

THERE ARE OTHER COMMENTS FROM BOARD MEMBERS.

I JUST WANT TO SAY, I REALLY ENJOYED THE PRESENTATIONS

[02:30:01]

TONIGHT, THE ENERGY, UM, AND LISTENING TO YOUR GOALS AND THE PLANS THAT YOU HAVE FOR THE DISTRICT, BECAUSE, UH, COMING OFF OF WHAT USED TO BE THE NORM WOULD NOT BE THE NORM ANYMORE.

SO IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GUYS HAVE AN EXCELLENT PLAN TO, UH, START THE NEW NORM.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO.

I'D LIKE TO ECHO THE SAME SENTIMENT.

UH, I CAN'T, UH, I'D BE REMISS TO RECOGNIZE THAT YOU GUYS EMPLOY THE NEW MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER IN THE GROUP THAT THE JACKSON , HE'S THE GUY, MAN, GOOD STUFF, REALLY GOOD STUFF ALL THE WAY AROUND.

UH, I DO APPRECIATE YOU GUYS TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER SOME OF MY QUESTIONS.

AS MANY OF, YOU KNOW, MY BACKGROUND IS NOT EDUCATION.

SO A LOT OF THESE TOPICS ARE NEW TO ME.

SO IT, IT, IT, IT, IT MEANS THE WORLD THAT YOU TAKE TIME TO HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND THEM, BECAUSE I HAVE TO ANSWER THESE, SOME OF THESE QUESTIONS TOO.

SO THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY YOU ALL WERE AWESOME.

YOU ARE GREAT EVERY DEPARTMENT, UH, FROM ALL THE WAY FROM THE COMMUNICATION TO THE ATHLETICS, TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THAT DR.

JACKSON'S ENERGY, UH, IT WAS, UH, VERY INVITING AND OUR FINANCE PERSON TO BE HERE, TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND TO, UM, I'VE WORKED WITH HER FOR QUITE AWHILE, UM, SINCE 2009.

NO, I'M SORRY, 2019.

AND NOW, AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO GET ANSWERS THAT I ASK YOUR PRESENTATION WAS VERY CLEAR.

UH, CAUGHT US OFF GUARD, CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD WITH A HEADACHE COMING IN, BUT I TELL YOU THE HEADACHE IS GONE.

SO I GUESS IT WAS A GOOD CHALLENGE, BUT I APPRECIATE YOU ALL.

I APPRECIATE WHAT YOU DO.

I APPRECIATE YOU PUTTING OUR CHILDREN FIRST.

I APPRECIATE YOU THINKING ABOUT WHERE I DISTRICT IS GOING FROM TODAY TO TOMORROW AND THE FUTURE, THEIR HEALTH, THEIR WELLBEING, AND MOST OF ALL, AS DR.

PEREIRA COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT BETTER.

EVERY CHILD WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, MR. JONES.

ALL RIGHT, WELL, THANK YOU GUYS AGAIN FOR THE PRESENTATION ALSO FOR MY COLLEAGUES ON THE DIETS.

UM, LANCASTER ISD HAS BEEN A PASSION FOR ME SINCE JOINING IN 2006.

I BELIEVE IT WAS, UH, AS AN EMPLOYEE AND THEN TRANSITIONING TO A BOARD MEMBER IN 2011, UH, TONIGHT'S PRESENTATION, SHED LIGHT TO WHAT DR.

BARRERA KIND OF OPENED UP WITH IDENTIFYING WHERE WE WERE, WHERE WE ARE NOW, AND THEN WHERE WE'RE GOING.

I THINK YOU SAID TWO YEARS, BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT COURSE, UH, WE'LL REVISIT THIS AT SOME OTHER POINT, BUT SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS THAT JUMPED OUT TO ME THROUGH THE PRESENTATIONS WERE, UH, STARTING OUT WITH THE FINE ARTS.

THAT IS ONE OF THE AREAS IN WHICH OUR STUDENTS HAVE CONTINUED TO SHINE AND GOING TO DIFFERENT INSTITUTIONS AND DOING WORK THERE, AND EVEN COMING BACK TO CONVOCATION, UH, WE HAD SOMEBODY PERFORMING, THEIR ATHLETICS HAS BEEN THE BACKBONE.

I THINK WHEN I GOT HERE, YOU PUT SIX IN A ROW, SIX CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW THAT, UH, UH, UH, COACH HUMPHREY AND ACTUALLY A MASTER AT THAT POINT.

AND SINCE THEN, IT'S GOTTEN EVEN MORE AND MORE ON BOTH THE, UH, GIRLS TRACK AND ALSO, UH, THE BOYS TRACK TEAMS AND, UH, TECHNOLOGY.

WE'VE DEFINITELY GROWN, UH, IN THAT FACET AS WELL.

UH, WITH US BEING, BECOMING ONE TO ONE, FINALLY, UH, AS A PANDEMIC PERK, IF YOU WILL, UH, BY US GETTING TO, TO THAT POINT, UH, THE, THE BACKBONE THOUGH FOR ALL OF US.

AND THE REASON WHY WE'RE HERE IS EDUCATION IS TO CREATE A ATMOSPHERE THAT ALLOWS OUR STUDENTS TO EXCEL ALSO IN CAPACITY, IN A ATMOSPHERE THAT ALLOWS OUR TEACHERS TO GET THEIR CAPACITIES BUILT.

AND THAT TIES INTO THE HUMAN CAPITAL SIDE, ALSO A THOUSAND TO THE CNI SIDE.

SO, UM, I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE WILL DEFINITELY HAVE TO DO IS LEVERAGE THOSE PARTNERSHIPS A LOT MORE.

I THINK ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I ASK IS WHO ARE ALL OF OUR PARTNERS AND WHAT ARE THEY OFFERING US AS A DISTRICT? AND THEN AS TRUSTEES, HOW CAN WE BEGIN TO LEVERAGE THOSE PARTNERSHIPS TO GET MORE FROM THEM? UM, THERE'S A LOT MORE ON HERE.

I DEFINITELY THINK THE FACILITIES TEAM, UH, JAMES THOMAS DOCTOR, UH, FOR WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE DONE TO GET US BACK AND UP AND GOING AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, UH, WITH THAT ISSUE THAT WE HAD EARLY PART OF THIS WEEK.

AND, UM, I'LL CONCLUDE WITH THAT.

AND AGAIN, THANK YOU DR.

PERRERA FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP AND COMING IN AND GETTING US TO THIS POINT.

AND I KNOW WE GOT, UH, A LOT OF HURDLES THAT WE GOT TO OVERCOME, BUT I KNOW WE HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE IN PLACE TO GET THAT DONE.

SO, UH, FROM EACH OF YOU ARE HERE TONIGHT AND ALSO THOSE WHO COULD NOT MAKE IT FOR VARIOUS REASONS, BUT WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING TOGETHER AND BUILDING THIS TEAM OF

[02:35:01]

EIGHT AND GETTING OUR, UH, RAISING OUR RULES.

OH, I HEAR, SO THAT IS A ROARING GOING ON.

THANK YOU, TRUSTEE JONES.

UM, AGAIN, TONIGHT'S INTENT WAS TO ENSURE THAT, UM, EVERYONE PRESENT AS WELL AS LISTENING IN, UM, UNDERSTAND THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE MORE THAN JUST A NUMBER.

THEY ARE MORE THAN JUST A SCORE.

WE OWE THEM MORE THAN JUST PREPARING THEM FOR AN ASSESSMENT AT THE STATE LEVEL, UH, BUT PREPARING THEM TRULY FOR LIFE AND ENSURE THAT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ARE A SUCCESS.

UM, AND YOU KNOW, COMING HERE AS A SUPERINTENDENT, I FEEL LIKE I'M LIVING A SUPERINTENDENT'S DREAM IS TO COME INTO A PLACE WHERE THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT THINGS GOING ON AND HAPPENING AND BEING ABLE TO BUILD OFF OF THOSE THINGS IS TRULY, AGAIN, A DREAM.

I WON'T SAY A DREAM IT'S REALITY, ACTUALLY, I'M, I'M WIDE AWAKE.

I'M FULLY AWARE OF WHAT'S HAPPENING.

UM, IT'S, IT'S NOT A FANTASY OR DREAM.

IT TRULY IS A REALITY FOR ME.

UM, AND I KNOW THAT THE TEAM HERE PRESENT TODAY, UH, HAS EVERY BIT OF INTENT OF MAKING THAT A REALITY AND SUCCESS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

UM, YOU KNOW, EVERY DAY I GET TO COME TO WORK AND I STAND HUMBLED AMONGST EDUCATORS WHO I BELIEVE ARE SOME OF THE BEST IN THE STATE.

AND, AND I WOULD EVEN SAY THE NATION IN SOME SCENARIOS.

UM, BUT I WILL SHARE IT TO YOU THAT I STAND WITH THEM EVERYDAY, KNOWING THAT, UH, WE HAVE WHAT WE NEED IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS A DISTRICT.

UH, WE HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE, WE HAVE THE EXPERIENCES.

UH, WE HAVE THE PASSION AS YOU SAW THIS EVENING, UM, TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR KIDS, NOT JUST BECAUSE IT'S THE, YOU KNOW, THE, THE GOING THING, UH, ACROSS THE NATION OR MOVEMENT, BUT I FEEL LIKE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN OUR MORAL IMPERATIVE AS EDUCATORS, UH, TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT BY OUR STUDENTS.

YOU KNOW, I SCRATCHED MY HEAD OVER THIS WHOLE PUSH OF, HEY, LET'S WE GOTTA PUSH EQUITY.

WELL, WE SHOULD BE DOING THAT ALL THE TIME.

AND IT SHOULD NOT BE A STANDALONE ITEM.

IT IS WHAT WE ARE CHARGED TO DO.

UM, AND BECAUSE OF THAT, AGAIN, I ASKED EVERYONE HERE, ALTHOUGH WE HAVE BEEN IN SOME GREAT PLACES AND DONE SOME GREAT THINGS IN THIS DISTRICT IN COMMUNITY AND WHATEVER IS GOOD IN THE CLASSROOM WAS ALWAYS GOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY AND STATE IN THE COUNTRY, ULTIMATELY.

BUT I ALSO CHARGE EVERYONE AT THIS TIME TO, TO CONTINUE TO RAISE THAT BAR, BECAUSE WHAT I KNOW ABOUT KIDS IS THAT THE EXPECTATIONS YOU SET FOR THEM AND THE OPPORTUNITIES AND ACCESS DID YOU GIVE THEM, ALLOWS THEM TO RAISE THEIR BAR AND ALLOWS US ALL TO RAISE OUR ROAR TOGETHER AS TIGERS IN LANCASTER.

AND WITH THAT, I WILL CLOSE IT OUT.

AND, UM, THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR TIME AND EFFORTS THIS EVENING, UH, BOARD MEMBERS.

I APPRECIATE YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT.

IT REALLY DOES MEAN A LOT, UM, AS WE GO FORWARD AND MOVE FORWARD IN THIS, IN THIS WORK, UM, NOT EASY WORK, BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE EASY BECAUSE WE ARE PREPARING THE FUTURE.

THANK YOU.

RIGHT.

THANK YOU, DR.

PERRERA, UH, TIME IS 8 45, AND I GUESS I'D LIKE TO HAVE A MOTION TO ADJOURN AND RIGHT.

SO ALL IN FAVOR.

AYE.

AYE.

SO JARRING.
